No-nonsense protection.

When the weather offends your civilized inclinations, put on the Patagonia Men's Torrentshell Insulated Jacket for robust yet refined protection. For additional warmth and brutish water resistance, this jacket uses a mix of new and recycled materials, reducing your carbon footprint without increasing your water-logged footprints. Whether you're caught in a cold PNW downpour or cheering on your team during a rain-soaked Saturday football game, the Insulated Torrentshell will keep you warm and dry.

Patagonia's waterproof and breathable H2No Performance Standard shell, finished with DWR, helps water bead on the jacket's surface. The lining also sports a DWR finish for additional protection. Thermogreen insulation uses 92% recycled polyester to provide soft, lofty warmth. The two-way adjustable hood includes a laminated visor for increased visibility in poor conditions. When the clouds clear, the hood can be rolled and stowed to keep it out of your way. Two-way underarm vents provide customized venting to help regulate temperature. Hook-and-loop cuff closures and an adjustable drawcord hem gives you the ability to batten down the hatches and seal out the elements until you reach shelter.

  • Everyday protection from cold and wet weather
  • H2No Performance Standard shell is waterproof and breathable
  • Thermogreen fill uses recycled materials for responsible warmth

Versatile warm coat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

Great coat overall. Waterproof. Seems like it's wind proof too. Not a slim fit so layering shouldn't be a problem. I can wear this coat with just a t-shirt in 30 degree weather and still be warm. My other jacket is the Arcteryx Atom LT... this heavier and bulkier than that.

Awesome smelly coat

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Coat is perfect, except for the weird rubber/plastic smell. Going to wash it and see if it can be removed.

Legendary Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This jacket is awesome. The outside layer does great at repelling the weather, and the inside puff does a great job keeping ya warm. For such a durable jacket it's unbelievable how lightweight it is. The pockets are soft and roomy, plenty of space for a bag of trail mix on an early morning hike with the bros.

Best Cycling Jacket I've Ever Had!

Here in northern Minnesota, spring comes late and it can stay cold for longer than you can imagine. My wife and I got Torrentshells to prepare for spring snows-turning-to-rains. What a surprise! It's been a great late-winter coat too... The arms are long and the wrists cinch up to keep out the cold. It may be only modestly insulated, but that insulation has kept me warm on the bike in temperatures down into the 20s.(F) The pockets are big and insulated, and the hood has been great when I've used it. It's worth every penny -- Patagonia makes great gear, but even for Patagonia the Torrentshell is off-the-charts great!

Patagonia is a staple!

I use this as my ski jacket and it is super warm and water proof! I bought the mens version of this because I have broad shoulders and it fit great! I got it in a medium so I have plenty of room to layer on cold days. This jacket is super well rounded it can be used all year long weather climbing up in the mountain, skiing, or just being out and about in the rain. I have had it for over an year and the only wear on the coat is on the velcrow on the sleeves (but it is very minimal).

Was exactly what I was looking for

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I wanted a waterproof jacket that also provided a reasonable amount of warmth - without the necessity of layering. This jacket met this task. Though the jacket fits true to size Patagonia is not a company that specializes in athletic cut jackets. Their style is a bit more boxey. However the jacket is lightweight and comfortable. A bit crinkly sounding but waterproof indeed as it has been tested in a chicago winter and early spring. This is a jacket worth considering if you are looking for insulated rainwear.

I am glad you love it, John!
