Patagonia Seabrook Sleeveless Dress - Women's

Casual elegance.

Even though the Patagonia Women's Seabrook Sleeveless Dress seems simple, it’s surprisingly technical with UPF-rated 50+ protection, wrinkle resistance, and moisture-wicking capabilities. It’s crafted from a recycled polyester blend with a scoop-neck front and wrap detail on the back, so it has a sophisticated design for hikes in the sun or casual barbecues in the backyard.

The Perfect Dress

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I knew the second I tried this dress on that it was going to be my new go-to outfit. A lot of reviews are saying it runs large but I purchased a medium (which is my usual size) and it fits me perfectly. I'm 5'7", 150 lbs, 36D and I have no complaints about the fitting at all. I purchased the dress in "ink black" but I'd say it's more charcoal gray. I've worn this dress to several summer BBQs already and the material keeps you very cool while still looking stylist, I get compliments every time I wear it! One thing to point out is that the material in the back does this criss-cross thing that is not pictured, but it is cute and adds some character to an otherwise relatively plain dress. I've already ordered myself a second dress in blue and can't wait for it to arrive. Highly recommend!

Super relaxed fit

This dress is SO soft and comfortable! I ordered a small, and unfortunately it was way too baggy. I ended up returning it, but the quality is great. I'd recommend sizing down.

Fits larger.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XS

Very cute style dress. The material is light and airy for a hot day. The only problem is the fit is so big! I am 5'6 and 110lbs with no chest. I bought the XS, tried it on and was disappointed to find it was really baggy and loose on me. Also was a little long, hit right above the kneecaps. Looked a little frumpy. I loved the style and material so much, I actually had it altered (sides taken in and hemmed) and now it looks so cute on!

New favorite dress.

I love this dress. I was on the hunt for a work-friendly, performance-happy dress that I could dress up, down, and everything inbetween. Admittedly, when I purchased the Seabrook I wasn't sure if I would love it, but my goodness is it perfect. It's definitely my new favorite dress. Wore it the first day I got it and paired it with Danskos and proceeded to cook for a party of 8 people, and was incredibly, incredibly comfortable.

The fabric is lightweight, springy, and buttery soft. It reminds me a lot of Mountain Hardware's Butter fabric, but better - think quick-drying, less "drag" (i.e. it doesn't get hung up on undergarments) and really comfy. It does appear to be a slightly thinner fabric than say the construction of the Morning Glory dress.

The fit: I'm traditionally an XS in all Patagonia dresses across the board, so I purchased an XS and it fits just about perfectly. It is a traditional shift dress, so it is going to have more of a "relaxed" fit compared to some of Patagonia's other dresses that have princess seams and such. I haven't experienced any of the armpit problems as others have mentioned, and for reference I'm a 34A with a sort of runner-climber build up top, so nothing too big or small.

The dress itself falls just above the knee, which is like that splendid sweet spot for shorties like me. Oh, and the wrap - it's like this gorgeous, tulip overlay on the back that I personally luuuurve, though my husband asked me if I was wearing my dress backwards so there's that, too.

best summer dress EVER!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ordered this dress in search of comfortable summer wear. I wanted something that would move with my body, that looked nice/ but not revealing. It's design is simple and fits my body perfectly. It has kept me cool in the heat (outdoor festival 95 degrees outside), and breathes! It doesn't cling to my body - which I don't like when it's super hot outside. The length is perfect.....I can't say enough good things about this dress. It works for me!

Different Than Pictured

  • Fit: True to size

I rarely write reviews for products and have never written a negative review but I feel that this dress deserves a better description. First off, almost every review I read for this dress said that it runs large. I tend to wear a medium in dresses but more swing or shift styles I'll stick to a small. The small in this dress was fitted, not loose and swingy so I would say it is true to size, and you might even want to size up if you want the loose drapey style. Second, the fabric on this dress is not what I thought it would be. It has much more of a thin, stretchy spandex feel than a soft cotton. (I guess I expected it to be more akin to the fabric Toad & Co. uses for their dresses, this was not the case). Third, the color is not the soft natural green pictured but more of a light green/black heather. Overall this dress was much different than expected and didn't work for me, so I'll be retuning it.

Runs large

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: medium

This runs very large. I'm 5'7", 150 +/- 5 lbs. Got a medium and had to return it. It was way too big in the chest/armpits and fit like a sack. Size down if you are poorly endowed...

I'm going to exchange it for a small since I really like the color and fabric. I got the green and in person it is much brighter than the photo on the website.

Simple and sweet

Great simple dress that can be dressed up or down. Perfect for traveling or running around town. Soft, comfortable and wrinkle free.
