For durable warmth, stretch, and breathability.

The most versatile midlayer in Patagonia's Regulator line, the Women's R1 Full-Zip Fleece Jacket offers stretchy, durable, and breathable comfort. Take it on cool weather hikes, layer it under a shell while skiing, or rock it solo when you're running errands on a chilly day—this adaptable jacket keeps you comfy no matter where you take it.

Patagonia updated it this year with a Polartec Power Grid fabric, which features a raised grid pattern that traps heat. This allows it to be lighter and more breathable than before, while ensuring it keeps you just as warm and still offers the same outstanding stretch and durability. The slim fit keeps it close to your body for maximum insulating efficiency, not to mention it lends it a stylish feminine silhouette. Zippered hand pockets give you a place to warm your fingers, and the Polygiene treatment prevents the growth of odor-causing microbes so you're not doing laundry constantly.

Fits long and large

I usually wear a medium in jackets and sweaters mainly because I’m 5’9” with a long torso and arms. So I got a medium in this, but was not expecting it to be so long! I had to return it because it ran very long and large, but will definitely be getting a small instead. Other than me just getting the wrong size, this seems like an awesome technical fleece. I got it for backcountry skiing and hiking. I can see how it will be perfect for any outdoor activity because it will keep you warm but allow you to sweat. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a more technical mid-layer. Just remember to size down!

    Too long

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

This jacket is super soft, versatile, great. But for some reason this version is SO LONG, like it looks like I borrowed my boyfriend's jacket. This version is about 4 inches longer than previous (older) versions of this jacket and I hate it. It looks terrible!

    Great Jacket for MANY adventures!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

Love this piece for its comfort, versatility, warmth and quality! I use regularly for running, golfing, canoeing and hiking. Fits great as a stand-alone piece and super as a layering piece. Keeps you warm! Love it under rain gear too. True to size, slim fit. Just purchased my second one for color variety! Highly recommend everyone has this in their gear stash!

    Good all purpose jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I bought this to use as a skiing midlayer, but I have ended up wearing it much more often than expected. I wear it when I am riding to/from work or the gym and it's the perfect all purpose outdoor fleece! It dries crazy fast, even if you wear it when it's raining it seems to stay dry. Helps you stay cool when your hot and warm when you're not (not to mention it never really smells). I plan on buying another one for winter jogging.

    Great quality and performance

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have never used my R1 as a baselayer but I put it through many outdoor adventures as a midlayer in winter and top layer on cooler days during the rest of the year.

I really like the weight to warmth ratio of this jacket and its breathability. It is not bulky and does not restrict movement which is important for activities such as climbing where that inch of reach can make a difference.

It also packs well and even though not important for its performance, the fit is quite flattering.

I put my R1 through 2 years of hiking, scrambling and bushwhacking and it sustained with only 1 very small tear so far.

    Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
    Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
    Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
    Inseam:
Inseam will vary depending on style; when lengths are offered, "short" is 30, "regular" is 32 and "long" is 33. Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
