Why We Like The PowSlayer Jacket

The Patagonia Powslayer is the jacket we want when we're slashing pow turns through truly bottomless conditions. Its three-layer GORE-TEX Pro shell with fully taped seams keeps us dry during those days when we spend the majority of our time gasping for breath between prolonged visits to the white room. And since the deepest stashes are often found between the trees, the super durable 40-denier nylon ripstop face withstands heavy wear and tear when we're hunting down untracked lines between Mt. Baker's pine boughs and Hokkaido's dense stands of ash trees.

Super Versatile Jacket, Amazing Fit!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Bought this jacket a few weeks back and just put it through the paces in all different conditions and terrain in Central Oregon with close to 4 ft of combined snowfall last 5-7 days. From white out blizzard conditions in the trees at Willamette to blue bird deep powder summit backside runs at Bachelor this jacket was super versatile and able to keep warm, dry, ventilated and comfortable throughout all the weather changes and different terrains. The multitude of pockets came in handy as I forgot to bring my Osprey for this trip and didn’t miss a beat and the hood was great during the thick of the snow fall too. Amazing jacket and awesome deal through backcountry! Also got the matching pants from Patagonia direct so can’t go wrong with this kit for next few years! Product fit runs a little big but is perfect and very functional for overall movement while shredding through pow :) or gunning down groomers to get to the next lift. Def don’t size up. I’m 5’11 & 205 lbs with a stockier build and M fit me perfectly and will still be great when I lose the next 15-20 lbs.

Very boxy

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Very nice jacket, but not for tall skinny people. I am 6'2" and 175lbs. The medium was too tight in the shoulders (couldn't bend over and strap in) and the large was like a tent on me. Had to send the jacket back.

Bomber

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The small fits like an Arctery'x Medium to compare. I have a Rush jacket, a Beta AR Jacket and another Arctery'x jacket that they don't make anymore. I picked this up as it is most like the Arctery'x jacket that I can no longer buy with its amenities and Arctery'x China has gone downhill so I won't buy that brand anymore. I will use this for ski touring mostly and I am hard on my gear and happy with my purchase. I am 5'11 165 pounds and don't need the extra weight of a poncho sized ski jacket, I ski tour, not knuckle drag.

Quality jacket, but sizing is off

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I really wanted to like this jacket, as it has a lot of bells and whistles that I love: - Plethora of pockets - Very light weight and can be packable - It is fairly tailored, but still roomy enough for layering (I'm a 44R in the chest, but have very broad shoulders and arms) - you can tell it is recycled, which I appreciate - Cords are easy to tighten along the hem line and on the hood - the hood covers my large giro union helmet perfectly That said, two things caused me to return it (side note, I purchased a L and an XL would have me swimming in the coat): - It was really snug on my elbows and armpits. Uncomfortable to where if I wear to ski in the jacket, I would be concerned about durability - As other mentioned in the reviews, the zippers are a beast to move up and down. Had the arms been a more comfortable fit, I would have kept the coat. Still searching for my perfect ski shell.

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Originally picked this over the Arcteryx Sabre AR due the additional pockets. Jacket had a good general fit but the hood pulled tight against my chin when zipped up over a helmet. Sent it back for this reason.

Bomber Jacket

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is hands down the best Gore tex shell ever. Works great on those deep powder days. It is the best rain jacket anywhere. Owned it living in Orting Wa. It was perfect for a ferry ride across Puget sound, or a lift ride at Crystal mountain. One of my all time favorite pieces of gear.
