Old-school looks with new-school tech.

There's no disputing the fact that a red flannel shirt and pair of blue jeans is the most outdoorsy combo you could wear—just ask Paul Bunyan—but let's be honest, stiff denim isn't the most comfortable thing to wear to the crag or on the trail. The good news is that the Patagonia Men's Performance Regular Fit Denim Pants have that old-school lumberjack look with all the modern bells and whistles you need to stay comfortable in the great outdoors.

A regular chip off the old block, these denim pants have the same fit and feel of Patagonia's Regular Fit Denim Pants—regular rise waist, slightly relaxed through the thighs and seat, and straight through the legs—but with a mechanical stretch denim, Coolmax polyester, and DWR finish to repel light rain and the occasional stain. And if you do find yourself in town, their classic five-pocket layout and unsuspecting looks will let you blend in with the rest of the city folk; although, you may want to ditch that big blue ox that's been following you around.

  • A modern take on tried-and-true denim pants
  • Mechanical stretch denim with Coolmax polyester
  • DWR finish resists light rain and occasional stains
  • Classic five-pocket styling with antique nickel piton rivets
  • Regular rise waist with roomier hips and straight legs
  • Made with Fair Trade Certified sewing

Patagonia Denim!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34x32

I loves these jeans and have been wearing them on a weekly basis to work every week since I got them. They are classic looking denim jeans, with a nice little stretch in all the right places. Well made, responsibly manufactured, and durable.

Weird fit

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 32 Long

The fit is a little weird. They are kinda baggy. Also, be warned that "long" means 34in inseam. It says it on the back label of the jeans. Don't know whey they don't just give the measurement here. Ended up returning them. Otherwise they seemed good. Good material, good quality. So if they do fit they would be great.

Skeptical at first

Skeptical because it’s hard to find jeans that fit just right in store let alone online. When these came in I was immediately impressed with the build quality and deep rich color. Extremely comfortable. They were just a little baggy through the thigh, but after washing, they are just about perfect. I really like the way they fit on the waist. They don’t ride low which is good for me. I don’t have to constantly pull them up like most jeans after working or bending down. They form around the waist perfectly. I bought size 32 long. Glad I went long. After washing jeans always shrink a little. I’m 6’ and 180lbs with athletic build. I probably could have gotten by with a 31 or 30 since they are more roomy in thigh. All in all I’m impressed and will be buying a second pair.

    best jeans ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 36 x 32

soft and comfortable. perfect length. liked it so much bought a second

There aren't better jeans out there

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33W x 32L

These jeans fit comfortably relaxed with a straight fit at the calves/ankles, so that they don't blanket over one's shoes in an unstylish manner. They've got a slight stretch to them, which, I imagine, expands their versatility into realm of recreational activity. I've got large legs, and until trying these puppies on, I've found wearing jeans to be an uncomfortable and annoying rigid experience. I imagine I'll be buying these as long as Patagonia continues to make them... I ordered the 33Wx32L and probably could have gone down to a 32x32 as they're generously roomy.

    Great Dark Wash Jeans

I just got these for my fiance because I have the women's ones and pretty much live in them. And he is now a convert too! The dark wash looks great, and they fit him really well.

      Too baggy

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large

I wanted these to work but they were way too baggy. I'm 5'9" and 180bls with pretty athletic thighs/calves and just can't fit into skinny jeans, so was hoping these would be slightly looser, but they are an extreme opposite from the straight fit - literally like twice as wide in the legs.

      Way too baggy.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 30

After buying and returning the straight fit jeans, I purchased the regular fit thinking they would fit better. Not the case. These were very baggy as the straight fit jeans were skin tight. Then waist sizing is at least true to size unlike the straight jeans. If you want baggy jeans the these will work. If you want skinny jeans buy the straight fit. If you want slim fitting jeans look else where.

      Stretch Denim in Regular Fit

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34 X 32

For those of you who have been waiting for Patagonia to come out with a regular fit version of their famed Performance Stretch Denim, wait no longer, your new jeans are right here. Patagonia's denim is the most environmentally friendly denim in the world, with at least 50% less water wasted during production. If you are looking for a straight/slim fit in this stretch denim, search for PAT00X5

Personally, I think that these pants run true to size. To get a perfect fit after the jeans break-in, you can size down the waist by 1". I typically wear 34" waist pants and shorts, and these fit me well in 34"... as mentioned, I could fit in the 33" waist if I wanted a more contoured fit.

      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
