Tres 3-in-1 Parka

Featuring a super-versatile design and a waterproof and breathable H2No membrane, the Patagonia Men's Tres 3-in-1 Parka tackles tough weather without sacrificing big city fashion. In wet weather, wear the two-layer, DWR-coated shell to keep out the moisture out without sacrificing breathability. The super-compressible, 700-fill duck down liner jacket is great to keep in your pack or to wear in chilly weather. When things turn really cold, zip in the liner for ultimate warmth and protection. A removable hood offers additional coverage from wind and rain.

  • A 3-in-1 jacket ideal for travel and everyday wear
  • H2No shell is waterproof and breathable
  • Removable liner insulated with traceable 700-fill duck down
  • Down traceable to birds that were never live-plucked or force-fed
  • Liner jacket stows in chest pocket
  • Shell jacket has a longer, lower-hip length
  • Patagonia is dedicated to producing eco-friendly outdoor goods

Great coat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this as a gift but have feedback
I got this coat as a gift for my mission where I will be outside a lot. This coat fits really well. Seems to be well made. So far it has kept me warm in Utah in November/December.

Old version of product

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Backcountry put the old and new version of jacket in the same page. That make me confuse.

Sizing Not Correct

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I ordered this 3 in 1 because I bought the women's 3 in 1 for my wife and she loves it. Based on that I decided to purchase the 3 in 1 in the men's version. The Patagonia sizing chart for men's apparel is not correct. According to the waist, sleeve, and waist sizes in the chart, my order should have been a Medium (my neck size lines up with a Large size). I ordered a Large and the 3 in 1 is too small. Further, the sleeves in my wife's 3 in 1 are finished at the ends with a hem. The men's 3 in 1 have a flimsy elastic banding at the end and each time I tried the coat on, I had a difficult time getting my hand through the elastic band in putting the 3 in 1 on and in taking it off. As a result the connection of the down sleeve to the shell of the 3 in 1 kept becoming unsnapped. One more design consideration is that in the women's 3 in 1 the overall length of the coat covers a greater part of the leg for warmth. In the mens 3 in 1 the length of the coat is proportionately less. I am returning the 3 in 1. Great for women, not good for me. I am disappointed because I was looking forward very much to using this 3 in 1.

Awesome design; not as warm as expected

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I originally bought the city commuter parka from Patagonia and exchanged it for this coat, which I like much more overall. I use it mainly for commuting in Boston. It's not as warm as the city commuter parker and the insulation does not extend over the hips, nor into the hood. So, you do need to layer underneath it on extra cold days. But I like the convertibility of this coat much more and I believe the water resistance is stronger, which is important to me. I also like the breast pocket design on this coat much more than the city commuter parker, which has this odd design where you need to slide items in from the outside, rather than from the middle where the zipper is. Hard to explain until you see/try in person.

Like a glove

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

Fits like a glove. Very warm. Looks very good.

High quality, but ill-fitting

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

Patagonia makes awesome stuff, and this jacket is no exception. However, the sizing on this is just strange. I'm 6'1'' and 185lbs. I went through the sizing chart and based on the recommendation, I ordered a L. It fit comfortably enough, but the jacket was a bit big and buckled awkwardly from the chest area. Upon removing inner jacket from the outer, I noticed the inner was unwearable on its own, as the waist was far too baggy - it looked like I was wearing a skirt (not quite, but you get the picture). I contacted Backcountry and had them send me a M. Too small! The size difference between the M and L was staggering. Sending them both back now.

Hey man, I'm the exact height/weight as you and noticed the same thing. I haven't tried the medium yet but am thinking of getting one on sale and just wearing the shell - do you think the shell would fit you in the medium just by itself? The patagonia down jackets by themselves don't fit me either, so i'm probably just gonna pair it the shell with an eddie bauer down liner that I have that fits. Thanks.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

stays perfectly dry and warm real down

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Size Bought: Large

I liked the soft feel of the pockets and how easy it is to convert to a shell by removing the insulated down inner part. When layered I stayed perfectly warm. Didn't notice any cold spots. The build quality is superior to any other coat I've owned. Looks stylish as well.

Great Cold-Weather Coat

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I initially saw this coat at Patagonia, but they did not have it in the size and color I wanted. Luckily Backcountry did. It fits like any other Patagonia coat typically does. I am 6 foot, 210 lbs, and ordered a Large. It fits me a bit on the slim-side, which is what I was looking for (did not want a bulky oversized coat). Many of my other Patagonia jackets and sweaters have also been size Large. The past few days in the North East have been particularly cold, and I sometimes have to wait outdoors for 15 - 20 minutes, but this jacket will certainly keep you warm. It has a great length, hitting mid-thigh. I've noticed, as other reviewers have, that the zipper seems a bit taught, but not to the extent that it has bothered me.

Also amazing is the customer service. I received a call shortly before my jacket shipped to see if there was anything else that could be done and, if the jacket was too snug when it arrived, steps to take to ensure a swift exchange.

Tres 3 in 1

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I bought a medium since I am 5-10, 170 lbs medium build. The jacket was form fitting in the body but a bit snug in the armpits so I ordered a large. The large fits more generously, but is still snug in the armpits...maybe it's my oddly shaped body or maybe it's the form of the jacket that requires that concession to allow for better overall mobility. Other that that nitpicking the jacket(s) are comfortable, warm and versatile for a cold and or rainy conditions in the city for work and standing on the sidelines during kids sports.

Best winter jacket purchased!

Bought this jacket for my husband and he LOVES it. He has been wearing this jacket every single day going to work, casual outing and even to ski resort. Kudos to Patagonia and Backcountry team for this product! Thumbs up! One minor complain that my husband has is the zip. It is hard to engage during initial pull up. Something you wont expect from a 500++ jacket.
