Dirt Roamer Jacket

Take to the trails with the Patagonia Dirt Roamer Jacket on your back or in your pack, and you'll be prepared for varying shoulder-season conditions. This lightweight jacket features a wind-resistant construction that protects you from the chill as you fly downhill, and a breathable design that allows plenty of airflow for harrowing climbs. A DWR treatment sheds light precipitation should you happen to ride through a shower, and the stowable hood features a 3-piece design that won't block your peripheral vision so you can maintain awareness as you ride. When the shower passes, the Dirt Roamer dries quickly and can be packed into its rear pocket for easy storage.

  • Lightweight jacket for mountain biking in variable weather
  • Wind-resistant construction protects you during descents
  • Breathable design allows airflow for climbs
  • DWR treatment sheds light precipitation
  • Stowable hood won't compromise peripheral vision
  • Packs into the rear pocket for easy compression

Great Jacket!

Such a great jacket for any outdoor activity! Really nice and lightweight but perfect for a little chill in the air. Love this jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I have used this piece extensively... LOVE.

In early September I took a trip to the Swiss Alps to pedal some epic trails. The second day we were there it started snowing then continued for about 24h. After the peaks were dusted graciously, we waited for warmer weather. One day later we said "Heck to it all, let's go ride!" We pedaled through some streams, then mud, then sure enough snow, and sure enough saw others out there doing the same exact thing! The highest point on our ride was exposed, windy, frigid, and WET (my least favorite conditions).

Now that you know what we were up against, I never felt the need for anything more than this piece paired with a couple other essentials. I had on a Capaline Midweight LS Top AND a Wool Blend SS Shirt. I LOVE Layers, and I used them to my advantage. I paired the jacket on the lower sections with my SS and the upper sections with LS.

This piece is rad - Warm, stylish and not too bulky when you're not using it. The sleeves are long enough and the fit is just right for on the bike with a waist pack, backpack, or solo.

You will be happy to have this super universal piece in your pocket!

    Minimalist Comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

This jacket is the perfect versatile option to keep stowed away in your pack. It's super lightweight and packable, while having surprisingly good wind protection and some light rain protection for your rides. I've also worn it climbing a couple of times and it performed well for that too! It has a slim fit, but I would still go with the size you'd regularly order.

    More substantial windbreaker

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I took this jacket out for a test drive on a recent bike trip to Moab and have some initial impressions to share. Overall, it's a solid lightweight jacket designed to cut out a chilly wind or provide a touch of extra warmth on a cooler shoulder season ride. It's lightweight and packable yet the material feels more substantial (i.e. snag resistant) for biking than other lightweight wind breakers out there. Minimalist design with a nice subtle stretch to it. There's a small zippered interior chest pocket as well as a medium zippered exterior pocket on the lower back. I found the check pocket useful but the lower back pocket doesn't make much sense if you're wearing a back or hip pack. A medium fit me well and layered comfortably over a t-shirt. The cut is quite fitted.

    Great lightweight jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I recently demo'ed this and wore it in the spring season, I love the design at the wrists where it has elastic and is shorter on the inside and longer on the top of your hand it's much better than having a velcro strap that's bulky and annoying, my only complaint is that I wish it had at least one pocket somewhere!

    How to Measure:
Measurements refer to body size, not garment dimensions. For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Inseam will vary depending on style; when lengths are offered, "short" is 30, "regular" is 32 and "long" is 33. Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
