Patagonia Away From Home Pant - Women's
PatagoniaAway From Home Pant - Women's

Built for fishing, in a casual style.

Patagonia designed the Women's Away From Home Pant with a casual style and a performance-driven focus on fishing. Its nylon taslan fabric breathes better than most nylons, and it resists UV rays, wicks moisture, and dries quickly for extra comfort after a wet-but-warm day in the lake. Patagonia added a DWR finish to shed raindrops, resist moisture, and dry even faster. Articulated knees ease mobility on hikes out to the fishing hole, and the double-side utility pocket gives a great place for your knife and hemostats.

  • Durable, quick-drying, breathable nylon taslan
  • DWR water-repellent finish
  • Articulated knees
  • Double-side utility pocket
  • 50+ UPF sun protection

Runs VERY small

I have a 2 pairs of Patagonia pants in size 12. So I ordered these in 12. These are sooo small, not even close. Doubt they are even a 10. I find his issue a lot with Patagonia bottoms—same size in different styles vary significantly in fit. Sent them right back.

Hiker's Dream - makes me want to fish!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 2

These pants are amazing. I've been through the wringer with a myriad of hiking pants and these are the best. They are incredibly light weight and fast drying. Great for summer time hiking and climbing. They fit me great but may not work for someone with lots of hip/butt volume - would maybe size up because they are worth it! I did rip a hole in them but it was entirely my fault.

The waist and fasteners are very sleek and agreeable for carrying a pack with a heavy waist belt, which can be annoying on other pants with buckles or drawstrings. They don't ride down or chafe on the hips when carrying a pack.

The legs are fitted, as to not trip you up or be annoying while climbing, but they are also not skin tight, so they breathe well and are very comfortable.

They rock. I'm going to buy more out of fear they will stop or change. I want these pants forever.

    Great Fishing Pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got these pants because I had been on the quest for a good pair of women's wet wading pants, and these one's ended up being the best fit for what I wanted. I did order a size 4 originally, because that is typically what size I wear, but I ended up having to get an 8 because I was a little too "hippy" for them. They are a little longer since I had to go up a couple sizes, but they roll up really nicely. I've worn them a few times, and have been really impressed with them and how quick they were to dry, along with beading off rain . So far they are a great set of pants, and I am really happy I made the decision to order them .

    Perfect pants for light rain!

These aren't just fishing pants, my friend wore them on a trip to Central America recently and said they shed rain very well. I bought a pair for myself because I travel to the PNW frequently and need a pair of lightweight hiking pants. They fit great, are comfy and do really well in the rain. I'm usually a size 0 or a 2, I have a 24 inch waist and the size 2 fits me well.

    great pant

    • Size Bought: 4

I love these pants. The fit is true . I got a size 4 and it was fine for my 5'4 , 110 lb. frame. Nice light fabric that dries quickly so great for fishing, canoeing or hiking.

    Best hiking pant ever!

I recently completed a 12 day road trip KY to MT that took me into the back country of Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone NP and the Gallatin River Valley of MT. I utilized these pants for short day hikes (6-8 miles) as well as long day hikes (24+ miles).

First, let me address the fit. The pant is narrow through the waist and hips but for women like myself (5'6"/145 lbs) who need narrow fitting pants due to narrow hips, these were a god send. Most hiking pants are too large in the waist and hips creating gaps that prevent them from being comfortable while on long hikes that require you to carry a pack.

Second, the narrow fit down through the legs was also a god send. These pants are bootcut which again, allows for room to breathe but not too much fabric to encourage rubbing/chaffing.

Lastly, the durability of these pants was awesome. As I was packing light, I only brought along a total of 3 pairs of pants for the entire trip (2 of these and 1 Khul) and these stood up to the test. They proved to be stain resistant, comfortable after multiple wears and stylish enough that I was able to wear them out to the bar after completing my hikes and not feel bad about it.

Typically, I like to give a balanced review with both pros and cons but unfortunately there are no cons to be found with these pants. I recommend that you get a pair while they are available and get out into nature and put them to the test!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

I ordered this pant from Patagonia and returned them. They are a brand new item and are already on sale which says something. I love Patagonia, and was looking for an all around hiking/climbing pant that was comfortable and easy to move in. I loved the fabric of these pants...very durable and comfortable, but the style and functionality in general was poor. The pants were tight in the hips and waist and had an excessively large bell bottom. I feel like this pant was designed more for style than functionality which is the complete opposite of what I was looking for. I would rather go with comfortable and functional than looking good in the backcounty any day. I hope Patagonia takes another look at these pants and comes up with a better design because there is a high potential for these pants.
