Zendo Pant

Find your zen on hiking trails, in climbing gyms, or at yoga studios with the Outdoor Research Women's Zendo Pant. Stretch ripstop fabric helps this pant resist UV rays, wick moisture, dry quickly, and provide a movement-mirroring stretch. Outdoor Research added a DWR finish to shed raindrops in wet weather. The low-profile wide waistband fits under your harness comfortably, and the drawcord ankle adjustments convert this pant into a capri.

  • Stretch ripstop fabric
  • DWR finish
  • Low-profile wide waistband with drawstring
  • Drawcord ankle adjustments
  • Slash front pockets
  • UPF 50+ sun protection

Collection of great features

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 6

I am very pleased with these pants, because they (1) have deep side pockets so my phone doesn't fall out, (2) don't have back rear pockets which I have no use for, and (3) have an elastic waistband instead of button or snap and fly. Most pants I've had with buttons or snaps almost always wear a hole in my merino base layers. I liked them so well I bought 2 more pairs.

Hey there!

Great review and insight on the features. Glad you like the pants so much!

Not so great

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

So, the fit is good, they are comfortable and lightweight for hiking, traveling or long walks. But the fabric quality has disappointed me, I have used it a couple of times and is already pilling on the side.

Not great

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

Fit was as expected. I ordered a small and this pant fits semi-loose but I will be returning these pants though because the material is thin (I am not a fan of a panty line) and seems like it would not hold up very well rock climbing in rugged terrain.

Yay climbing pants!

These pants are extremely stretchy, comfortable, and durable, especially if you're spending a lot of time rubbing up against sandstone or textured climbing wall panels (sorry yoga tights, you just can't hang). Cinch hems and a wide waistband are a must for me when hunting for climbing pants––if I have a band digging into my hips under a harness or material flapping around my ankles and eclipsing the view of my footwork options, you can bet I'll be extremely irritated. The downside to these pants is that when cinched, they (of course) lose a touch of length, so they're a tad short on me. I'm 5'9" and 145lbs with a 28/29in waist, so I went with size 6. They fit quite well, but an 8 might have been better for my long legs.

I broke out these pants for a recent road trip and they were great for rock climbing, hiking and traveling; very comfortable and go from the crag to town pretty easily.

Hey Jessica - Thank you for the review on the Zendo Pants! These are definitely a top seller for us!

    Comfortable and functional

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: 12

I am bigger in the thighs and backside than most people and have trouble finding hiking pants that fit. I wear a size 8 in most pants, a size 8-10 in hiking pants, and have found most hiking pants are too narrow in the rear and the thighs especially. I ordered these in a size 12 to make sure I had room in the hips and thighs, and while they are a little loose, the draw string makes sure they don't fall down. I bought these for layering for many activities. I've used them for indoor climbing (I have not tried outdoor yet but plan to), hiking, and kayaking and gardening. When I saw gardening, I mean we rented equipment, tore up the yard, hauled top soil to the recycle place in a dump truck, put in new planting beds, laid down gravel and filled in with top soil, so quite a bit of getting down and dirty. I like these pants because they are water and dirt resistant. While putting in the garden, we got rained on, and I got dirty and wet, but the water rolled off the pants and I could just brush the dirt off for the most part. I've worn them hiking and kayaking with a light base layer. I've even slept in them while camping. They seem fairly breathable. The only thing that didn't meet my expectations was that they were thinner than I expected and I worry that they might not be as durable as I'd hoped, but they've held up so far.

    Comfortable but could be better

I bought these pants for climbing at the gym. I like the material - good for hikes, climbs, yoga, or just lounging. The drawstring at the hem of the pants is a nice option as well. My only frustration is with the elastic waistband - it does not stay put and twists around within the fabric creating awkward lumps.

Lindsey, thank you for the feedback - I will pass it on to the designers at OR!

    Rad Pants

These pants are ridiculously comfortable, and not as nerdy as most outdoor pants. They're very stretchy and easy to move in. I've done some granite slab climbing in these and they are very durable for their weight. They are super lightweight and the light gray color will be great for summer. The ankle elastic is very quick to use and make these pants great for climbing or biking. I usually wear a 0 in Prana and a 4 in Patagonia, I got these in a size 2 and they fit perfectly. I did cut the elastic band out of these which made a major improvement.
