Not Abrasion Resistant

These pants weren't very durable, which is too bad because I loved the fit and bought them because they're described as abrasion resistant. The thread used to stitch the seams is too soft and too easily cut by any rough surface. The seams have only a single row of stitching, so if the thread is cut in one spot the pants don't hold together. I nicked the back seam on some sharp rock and they completely came apart: a double seam would have saved the day and I could have repaired them. The inner leg seam began unraveling after the first wear/wash.

Poor fit

Outdoor Research's sizing for bottoms is all over the place. I'm 5'8", 135lbs and it is always risky for me to order bottoms that are not specifically tall sizes, but occasionally I get lucky. For me these pants were disappointing in two specific ways: 1. Way too short, even for joggers. I had the cuffs of these pants sitting at the bottom of my calf several inches above where I would have liked them to fall at the bottom of my ankles. They were to short to look like joggers and too long to look like capris, and overall the look was very awkward. 2. The thigh area was super tight and constrictive. I can't imagine being able to climb in these and having normal mobility. I could not even squat comfortably as I stood there trying them on for the first time. The thigh area was bizarrely tight compared to the rest of the pants. One positive thing I can say is that I do like the draw cord at the waist, as the waist was very loose for a size 6 and the draw cord was nice for getting the pants snug. I don't recommend these for long legged people.

I love these pants

These pants have a slimming look on me. I like the thickness and texture of the material. I do think they will be great for hiking and rock scrambling. They also work for a dinner out with a nice top.

Strange Fit

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I wanted to love these pants so bad. Ordered a few different sizes to try based on reviews and none worked out. I am 5'4" / 125 lbs with a somewhat athletic build and am usually a 2 or 4 in pants. The 4 wouldn't even go over my hips. The 6 was still tighter on my thighs than I would have preferred for climbing but also resulted in a huge gap at the back of the waist. There is a drawstring to tighten, but it resulted in a crazy amount of cinched fabric. Even more sad was the zippered leg pocket that I couldn't even slide my hand in to. These would probably work great for someone with a slimmer build. Both the Storm and Tapenade colors looked great in person and the jogger style is great.

Runs big

The idea is great, but the fit is pretty weird. I'm usually a snug size 6 in OR, but these have a massive gap at the back of the waistband (2+ inches; a full fist and then some). There is a drawstring, but it's not enough to keep these puppies up and snug. The crotch is also oddly long even when worn high? Too much fabric in the crotch-to-waist region. Not sure what's going on with these. They're comfortable, but I would recommend sizing down if you're 135lb, 5'6".

Terrible fit

Terrible fit. Super tight on thighs, loose at waist and too low cut to be practical while climbing. Cut for women shaped like rulers? Ordered size 10 and 12, 10 wouldn't get over my hips, 12 tight on thighs huge on waist. Just really bad and unflattering. This is the second time I try OR climbing pants for women and it's another fail. I'll stick to DeadBird which seems to fit my body nicely.

short inseam

The waist and leg width fit was great, but the length is much too short. I am 6' tall, and they appear like flood pants on me. Sad to return; I love the tapenade color. OR has been great for inclusive sizing but does not have many tall options for casual pants. Dear OR, please make a longer inseam option for these pants.

I have two pairs

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These are some of my favorite pants. The articulated knee is so comfortable and the fit is *almost* perfect. I have an athletic build with sturdy (Latina) thighs and bum which size 6 fit perfectly, but the waist is a little on the loose side (the waist drawstring definitely helps with this though) The fabric is a little on the heavier side so I don’t know how comfortable they would be in a harness for long periods of time for climbing, but for casual use they’re super comfortable and look sharp.

5th Pair!

I love these pants so much, I just bought an extra a color that I already have so I can dye it navy. (Please make a navy option!) They are super durable and hard-wearing. Just wish the back rise was higher as it's a constant opportunity to show you underwear every time you bend over.

New favorite pants

These are my new favorite pants. Comfortable, great look, pockets. The gusset crotch adds to the comfort and flexibility with out looking odd. These are well designed. I wanted to buy them in the kalamata color too but it doesn't appear they were ever made in that color? Please make this color! I'll buy another pair. I have them in tapenade with I also love.
