Ignite your day at the mountain.

Plunge down steep slopes and dive into powder while staying dry and toasty in the Outdoor Research Women's Igneo Pant. The waterproof and breathable Pertex Shield fabric shrugs off heavy snow and howling wind, and lightweight, strategically-placed Thermore insulation holds in heat where you need it.

The fabric has been updated this year to be quieter and softer, and it's sealed with fully taped seams to prevent moisture from seeping in throughout the day. Stretch-Mesh gaiters prevent snow from getting in your pants when you're bootpacking through deep snow, and reinforced scuff guards keep your hems from getting shredded by your boots when you're making your way through the parking lot. Mesh-lined inseam vents let you dump heat on warm spring days and long hikes.

You'll have plenty of room to layer underneath and move around comfortably in the relaxed (but not too loose) fit. Articulated knees move naturally with you, and multiple zippered pockets give you spots to stash your daily essentials. Whether you're carving up groomers or seeking powder stashes, the Igneo will keep you warm and dry along the way.

Does an avalanche transceiver fit in any of the pockets?

had to return

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: xs

seem like great pants but WAY too big. XS seemed like a medium. Am bummed.

Hey Michele! I am so sorry! Yes, they are roomy. I wear an 8 usually, and the mediums are good, but generous. I wouldn't go to a small though. So medium is good for me. They are great pants, I have been using them for 3 years now, and am super stoked on them. Thank you for the feedback!

Good features but lacks durability

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

I like these pants. The features are for the most part well thought out (except the front zipper pockets that get stuck!). However, the durability is less than expected. After half a season out, these pants started showing significant wear. A full season later, the seams ripped...

I was having a hard time finding pants that fit both my thick thighs and smaller waist. These are great!

Versatile and affordable

I really like these pants. OR truthfully represents them as both backcountry- and resort-capable. I wore them on a recent bc ski day when it was puking snow. I was warm and dry all day and they remained comfortable for both the skin up and the ski down, for multiple runs when it never stopped snowing and blowing. Inner thigh vents are brilliant and do not get in the way while skinning. Being able to lace boot power straps through snow cuffs is also a nice feature, very convenient and makes adjustments doable with gloves on. They have a nice rise in waist that fits my shape, and belt loops too. They do run large though--I'm 5'6", 145 lb and had measured myself to be a Large, but finally ended up with a Small. (Backcountry is excellent about returns and exchanges, thanks!!) They seem to have a baggier cut but I was swimming in them. The Small fits perfectly. I don't want loads of extra fabric for skinning. Two thumbs up and happy to be warm and dry!

Thank you so much for the great review! I just used my pair this weekend and they were great. I have not skinned in them yet, but will be doing so to check them out!

Thank you for the review,

Igneo in the Arctic!

The Igneo pant was the only ski pant I had on a recent sail/ski trip to Norway. We weren't using lifts, only hiking from the sailboat, so these pants were expected to provide a little extra warmth with the insulation (Thermore). They worked perfectly for hiking and staying warm. I was able to regulate temperature on the way up with the leg vents and then when I got to the top of a cold peak I had the extra insulation. For a pant this price, the Igneo performs fantastically. First rate performance with a loose, comfortable fit, and a great price! Love the Igneo!

    keeps you warm and dry

I wore these new pants for a full day of mid-Atlantic skiing in the rain, and they kept me warm and bone-dry all day. Worth every penny!

      great pant, great price too.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love the Igneo pant because its everything I want in a ski pant at under $200. With room to move, this pant lets me hike for the fresh stuff, dump heat, and keeps the snow out of my boots with a built in gaiter.
