Outdoor Research Igneo Pant - Men's

The perfect pants for powder skiing.

Steep lines, mad powder, pillow drops, and cliffs: the Men's Igneo Pants from Outdoor Research are ready for any conditions the backcountry serves up. Waterproof and windproof Pertex Shield fabric fights the elements while strategically placed Thermore polyester insulation keeps in the warmth. Zippered, mesh-lined thigh vents keep you comfortable while you're hoofing it to earn the goodness. Multiple zippered pockets keep your beacon, keys, and other essentials secure while you're tearing it up.

Internal stretch gaiters with slots for your boot's power straps keep the snow reserved for face shots rather than flying up your legs, and reinforced scuff guards add to the Igneo's durability. Articulated knees allow for uninhibited shredding, and a brushed, tricot-lined waistband adds soft comfort.

Must Have Been a Mislabel

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

I ordered these pants during an end of year sale. Depending on the manufacturer, I will take a medium or a large. I have some OR Cirque pants in large that fit well. I ordered a large and they were HUGE. Not just a little too large, but huge like an XL or an XXL. No comment as to the quality of the pant-I returned them immediately. They were so oversized they must have been mislabeled. This was poor quality control on someone's part.

If the Cirque pants fits me well but has a "trim fit" will the Igneo pant fit me in the same size even though it has a "relaxed fit"?

Taylor, I am sorry for the very delayed response! That is a tough one... Can you give me your height and weight and the size you take in the Cirque (if you havent already figured this out!).

Hi James, the inseam is 32 1/2 in a size large. Hope this helps!

Look and Feel High Quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

OR Igneo pants just arrived in the mail yesterday. Initial impressions are they are a very high quality ski pant. The inseam length is perfect on me. The front hand pockets are lined with a soft mesh lining. The front right pocket includes an avalanche beacon pocket within a pocket. The outer shell feels very durable, like it can take a good winters worth of skiing and snow. The bottom gaiters have 2 slots for power strap on boots to keep gaiters from sliding up. Inner thigh vents are meshed lined, but feel a little on the small side in terms or length. TBD in terms of venting adequacy. Waist is about an inch bigger than I was expecting. I am a 34 waist. Only complaint is no adjustable waist straps, but nothing an Arcade belt won't handle. The inner lining has 40g of Thermore insulation, mostly in the seat and from mid thigh down. Looking forward to having some warmth on the ride up! There is plenty of room to add a thermal layer for the cold days. Definitely feels like these bad boys will handle any windy or wet conditions! So far happy with the purchase. My ski trip to Utah can't come quick enough!!

Brandon, Thanks for the great review! These are the pants I useon the women's side as well. I have found the venting to be completely adequate - no worries.

Thanks again for writing!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

This pant is comfortable and roomy with nice features. I have used them for ~60 days and the inside of beacon pocket stitching blew out making pocket unusable. I worry about long term durability

one of the best jackets I've ever owned, different brand, blew out a pocket right away. when they are making a light weight model, pocket durability is often sacrificed. seven flannel type pockets weighs prob a few ounzes. I'm going to figure out a way to sew them up. cut pockets out of other clothes and sew them in, haha
