Outdoor Research Igneo Insulated Jacket - Men's

Got get you some pow.

Designed for adventure, the Outdoor Research Men's Igneo Insulated Jacket is for the type of people who go out in search for powder, no matter the conditions. Pertex Shield fabric and fully taped seams deliver windproof and waterproof protection from the nastiest of weather while the powder skirt with LockDown technology keeps those endless freshies from working their way up inside. Thermore insulation delivers warmth on the chilliest of days in the backcountry.

The ThumbDrive hook-and-loop cuff closure lets you tighten your cuffs normally or wrapped around your thumb to prevent your sleeves from riding up while you're dropping those sick pillows. A fully adjustable hood fits easily over your helmet for those stinging windblown snow-summit pushes. Large core vents keep you from burning up while you're hoofing it up the ridgeline.

Perfect for spring skiing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XXL

The jacket is just what I was looking for. I ski in Colorado in early April every year and the Igneo is the perfect weight and has the just the right amount of insulation. The large pit zips allow for almost infinite adjustment for changing conditions. The pockets are well thought out and have plenty of room for cellphone, goggles, wallet, etc. It is supple and allows for excellent range of motion. It should be a great jacket for late fall, late winter/early spring off the slopes, too.

Great Jacket

Well made, attractive, with all the do-dads a skier wants. A little thin on the insulation, but on other hand it makes for a good everyday jacket, and runs large enough for adequate layering for the cold days.
Liked it well enough to get a second in different color.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jacket out-performs other branded ski jackets I have used in the past. I normally wear larges and ordered the same for this jacket knowing it was a relaxed fit. The sleeves are baggier than what I expected but after hitting the slopes on a powder day I realized why this jacket was designed that way. This jacket provides excellent coverage without restricting your movement with heavy insulation. On the insulation, it is probably considered light by most ski jacket standards but it kept me warm with a base and mid-layer on. I skied in temp's as high as 16F and as low as 1F with no issues. The igneo also has a hood large enough to cover a helmet and it is removable. There is a large stash pocket on the interior right side large enough for a set of gloves. My favorite is the exterior chest pocket with an interior sleeve for id cards and credit cards. This pocket is also large and deep enough for keys and an iPhone 6 with otter box case. I accidentally went down the mountain a couple of times with the pockets open and nothing fell out because of the pockets depth. The skirt also does its job well and is mesh so it keeps you cool when you warm up. Overall, the Igneo will be my go to jacket for many seasons.
