A dangerous experience
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought both the jacket and pants, my first use was today, an Alaskan hike from Whittier over a pass to a glacier, light rain, after 4 miles I was soaked through all layers the only thing dry was my feet love my boots, but this became dangerous, I'm so lucky to have had a place to get dry back at the trail head. My hiking partners were all dry, one with my old north face jacket and one with an REI jacket. My entire jacket is saturated wet like a cotton shirt would have been. Very disturbing

Great all-arounder
I've owned a few rain jackets over the years, and I like this one better than any of the others. It just does everything right and keeps the rain off without causing too much sweat. It's great.

First one worked great, second one did not
After being recommended by a friend, I had one for a couple of weeks and loved it. I tore the sleeve helping a friend move, so I ordered another one. The second one didn't hold up to one outing.

Good for hailstorms!
I was hiking on the Umtanum Trail in the Yakima Canyon in Eastern Washington. Bright, sunny hot day. But it's May, and that means chaotic, unpredictable weather. We're getting near the trails end, and a light rain begins, so I get on my Foray. The rain turns into hailstones, the size of grapes and peas. Hard hail, the sort that stings when it hits your skin. It felt like I was being razed by BB guns. And it lasted a long, long time, the longest hailstorm in my experience, a good 20 or 30 minutes of it. Through it all, the Foray not only kept me dry, but provided a blunting shield from the hailstones, including the hood that provided a cave-like coverage for my head, neck, and face. I didn't have my gloves, so it felt like my hands were being shot to pieces. I pushed my hands into the Foray's pockets for protection. I'm so glad I had that hard shell rain jacket on me! It made sure I didn't get massacred by hailstones, and prevented bruising and welts that would have occurred had I didn't have any protection. I only had a base layer underneath. The Foray kept the wind and water off.

Perfect for all weather
I initially just wanted a light shell for the wind, but I use it in all conditions with layers which make it my go to. The zippers on the side make it extremely comfortable when driving and the chest pocket is great for my phone. The jacket is the leatherman of jackets for me.

Great look, great fit
I've owned many rain jackets, this is one of the best, if not THE best. Get one and you'll see.

Foray rain coat is a recommended buy!
I left my Frogg Togg rain jacket at a friend's house. He's gone for 6 months. So I needed a new one. I looked at several and bought a Foray jacket. This jacket is every bit as good as what I wanted to replace, and it has some nice features. First the zippers. They are smooth action, and are waterproof. Not with a crummy flap but a real tight true waterproof zip. Storage pockets have the same feature. The sizing is good but I like a little room so I ordered a XL. Different colors are available but I'm simple so I went with Grey. The really nice part is it is a waterproof shell, but also windblocks , so combine the shell with a sweatshirt, and it is warm. I am not completely sold on the hood yet but I use a Seattle Sombrero rain hat that keeps me totally dry.

My first Gore-Tex jacket i'd buy it again
Mt. Hood for one week(4/6-4/12. Two bluebird days followed by a winter storm on the PCT at Barlow Pass. 5 mile Backcountry hikes and the jacket was used to my fullest needs. Bluebird days required Torso Venting Tech and the snowstorm also required venting, due to busting trail in 2 feet of fresh falling snow! The heat and moisture control were exceptional.

Impressed
This is a great jacket that provides amazing protection against rain. Water just runs off this thing like food on a non stick pan. Also the functional zippers make this perfect for any situation. I didn't think I'd use the side zippers or lower zipper when fully zipped. But I use them all the time. Great product.

Not the Quality Expected
This is my 2nd OR rain jacket. All is good with the exception of the main zipper. Difficult to zip up. End of zipper does not fit into the Holds to allow smooth operation. I would consider this flaw to classify the jacket as a "second". My original jacket operates MUCH better and includes the hood transforming to a collar when not in use.
