Versatility for beginners.
Ocean Kayak designed its Nalu 11 Stand-Up Paddleboard for beginners so you can practice standing and paddling on flat water and you can sit down and paddle when the water gets rough on the lake, ocean, or slow-moving river. Made with polyethylene, this SUP is much tougher than composite boards and handles bumps and crashes a lot better too. While the plumb-shaped hull slices through flat waters with high speed, the molded-in integral fins let you maneuver through light surf and rolling waves with ease.
The textured foot area optimizes your balance while you stand and provides enough friction for your feet so you don't slip off the SUP, and the molded-in seat area helps when you feel like taking a load off your feet. Two carry handles help you take the SUP from the car to the water. Rear bungees store your gear securely so you don't have to worry about your sunscreen sinking into the ocean halfway through the day.

Great versatile SUP/Kayak option
Received my order super fast and at a great price point. Have not used the paddle board yet...too cold but primed for use in a few months. Have another great paddle board but look forward to using the NALU when windy.
Not for big guys!
I am 6' tall ,240 lbs.....way too unstable for stand up paddling ....and I put a seat on it and tried to use it as a sit on top kayak....back end went under water.....total fail for me
Stable as a Yak, Fun as a SUP
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I love my little mango Nalu. So much so that I'll absolutely NEVER return to sitting inside a boat (sold 1 of 2 yaks). Spotted an orange Koi (Potomac River) only b/c I was standing yet by the end of most paddle adventures - either the wind or waves kick up and I'm thankful for the option to sit. My seat is from Austin Kayak and fits sunscreen, bino's, snacks, water. The deck cord behind the seat is where I store my kayak blades. Discovered that this board performs best kayaking with a true kayak blade and stand up paddling with a SUP paddle. Some may not dig the built in grooves but they allow you to carve in waves and heavy white caps without losing balance or falling overboard. Lost a star b/c of it's weight, which requires deliberate method & muscle to load and carry. Also results in the stern riding below the water. But when you do drop it, and you will, this thing is indestructible. For some, hybrids = compromise but it was a win win for me. I owe my new found love of paddle boarding to the forgiving nature of this super stable and comfortable platform.
