The best way to make your paddling partner do all the work.
You and your kayaking pal are heading to the same place anyway, so you might as well load up in the Malibu Two XL Tandem Kayak and work together to get there. Ocean Kayak can't promise that you'll go faster, or that you'll even agree on what your destination is, but it can promise that the Malibu's a stable, comfortable boat that's capable of holding 2 adults and 1 youngster (or a pet, if you'd rather leave Jimmy Jr. at home to fend for himself). The Comfort Zone seats are movable, so you can set one up in the center if you're paddling all by your lonesome, and there are overlapping foot wells so you've always got something to push against, no matter where you're sitting. Bring a fishing pole and stash your paddle in the side paddle keepers, or stash some beach towels under the bungees and head out to spend the day at the secret beach. At 61 pounds, the Malibu isn't as light as a feather, but it makes up for it by being exceptionally durable, so it'll be around for a long time.
- Room for 2 adults and a child or pet
- Movable Comfort Zone seats for a single paddler
- Overlapping foot wells
- Side paddle keepers
- Bow and stern bungees
- Side carrying handles
- Q & A
I noticed on your ad and on other websites the malibu two xl comes in blue.
Is that available from Backcountry?
Hey Randy, it looks like we normally carry the blue for the Malibu but we are currently out of stock in that color.
What a blast
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
We were new to kayaking and did some homework and decided on the Malibu Two XL. So glad we did. The help at back country was superb. Thank you Wesley for all your expert help with all the gear!
Have a proper rack
Here's 2 of these Kayaks on my Tacoma, they fit on my truck but make sure you have a proper rack. If you have just cross bars make sure you have a tie down in the rear to prevent them from sliding back and fourth across your cross bars. I needed a pad on the top of my roof too. Of course a cross bar going across the roof would be ideal but if you don't have one make sure to throw a pad down. This is a 6 foot bed and a double cab 07' tacoma. I took 2 tiedowns and connected them to trailer hitch, this was very helpful in preventing the kayaks from sliding back and fourth. Without those, they almost slid completely off. 3 tie downs over the top and 2 on the back held them in place.
kayak not delivered and I have still not been given a date for delivery?
I just contacted our freight shipper and sent out an email to ya. We should be all set!
