Better than cotton.
Sitting in soggy cotton shorts all day is straight miserable, which is just one reason you should pull on the NRS HydroSkin 0.5mm Men's Short right after you wake up and before you get in the boat (other reasons include showing off your thighs and working on your dance moves). Made of 0.5mm Terraprene neoprene with a four-way stretch Powerspan exterior, the HydroSkin is designed to provide unrestricted movement and serious comfort, with strategically placed seams and a soft ThermalPlush lining to keep you feeling great during long paddling days. The waist drawcord keeps them from falling down, and there's even a zippered pocket in the waist band.

Under the board shorts
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I throw these on to fit underneath my boardshorts for warm days, but when the water is too cold for my hardy boys. I've used them for SUPing, warm whitwater kayaking and for when I'm rafting and planning on swimming a lot. I like how they keep me warm, but not too hot...that is because of the 0.5mm thickness. The only draw back is that the waistband has that extra height in the back and it sticks out of the top of my board shorts (weird looking and weird tan lines). I ended cutting it off and the waist feels great now.
Not a good choice for surfski
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I got these to paddle on a surf ski in saltwater. There were way too many seams and a zippered pocket in the back to make these work without giving you all kinds of sea sores. Without a picture of the back it was hard to see how many seams but don't get these if you're thinking of using these for a surf ski. Probably great for other paddling.
