NRSFlux Drytop - Men's

Keeps you dry and comfortable while retaining full mobility.

As fun as kayaking and playboating is, being a wet, soggy mess definitely puts a damper on your paddling fun. PThe NRS Men's Flux Drytop fully seals out moisture so it won't ruin your river-running experience. The supple, polyester microfiber shell reduces paddling friction while simultaneously protecting against punctures and abrasion. Eclipse fabric (4-layer) blocks moisture with its waterproof membrane, yet it still allows built-up perspiration to escape for maximum breathability when paddling hard.

This drytop connects to your pre-existing sprayskirt via a five-inch, double-pull waist—keeping both you and your kayak's cockpit dry. Latex neck and wrist gaiters fit snugly for a water-tight closure against mist, chop, and unexpected spray. A GlideSkin coating inside the neoprene neck overcuff ensures your paddle session won't end prematurely due to chafing.

Doesn't hold up well

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had at least 5 NRS Flux tops, bought 2 and 3 warranty replacements. They just don't hold up well IME.
1) Material delaminates causing leaking
2) Stitching around neoprene comes undone (neck, wrist, waist band)
3) Bungey cord self deconstructed after only several uses.

Other gripes:
Waist band doesn't seal well. Sizing - either too big or too small. Velcro on wrists doesn't hold after about 1/2 year use.

If you can buy a new dry top every year, this may work for you. I'm now using the Kokatat Rogue dry top which is vastly superior to the Flux.

I've actually conveyed some of my gripes to NRS reps and they just foo-fooed them, saying "it doesn't effect the performance".

Great first impression

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this last year and FINALLY was able to take it out on the water this weekend for a few hours. I got an early start when there was a slight chill in the air and the Flux kept me at a nice temperature, as the morning wore on and the sun came out I didn't feel like I was baking at all. This thing really breaths well, even when I was really working up a sweat. I did some roll practice in it as well and I stayed bone dry. I can't wait to really put this thing through its paces!

Flux Top

Another solid NRS product

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm quite happy with my new Flux dry top, and over all impressed by purchases I've made from NRS over the years. I've only gotten great gear and service from them.

I had been borrowing a year older model and the fabric on this years is much improved. I've had this top out on the river running moderate class III white water this spring and its kept me dry and taken some scuffs without complaint. The XL fits me great @ 5'11 180. I went with the XL to get the L size neck gaskets. The L size Flux apparently uses M neck gaskets. The neck still needed some stretching once it arrived before it was comfortable. Well, as comfortable as a new latex neck gasket can be. I have a longer torso and really appreciate the extra length on the inner tunnel layer.

Did I mention the Flux looks sick? The green is killer.

Another solid NRS product

Finally a company figured it out!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This drytop, so far, has been a great purchase. NRS finally figured out that it's really annoying to have to stretch and spend many days paddling to get a gasket that is comfortable. This product was comfortable from Day 1. And at the same time, has kept me incredibly dry as well. Can't believe I found it on sale too!
