Really good quality pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: S

After reading everyone's review, the biggest con apparently is the size runs small. I will say that's probably not true, it runs the right size but you have be be quite lean. I'm 5'6" 135lbs, I would say I have a lean figure, and these pants fit GREAT. But again, this is different for everyone depending on their size.

As for the rest, these pants are GREAT. The quality of materials, GREAT. The craftsmanship is GREAT. You can really tell by the weak points of all clothing, the seams, the zippers, the cuffs, etc. They are all great quality. I have washed this countless times and just threw them into the dryer. Comes out same as it went it. VERY DURABLE.

Because these are the heavy duty version, you can tell that the materials are thicker than usual and they provide some warmth compared to just a shell or windbreaker. They won't last you in the snow or heavy rains, but they will be fine in a chilly, mild raining environment.

Again, my favorite pants, highly recommend. I don't even write reviews, but these pants are so good, I took the time to write this one.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

A very well made product; however, the pant's simply not proportioned correctly. We order a small based on hip size and inseam length which was correct, but the drop between the waist and crotch was insufficient.

Definitely runs small, but looks amazing

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

First impression, just got it and tried it on. I'm 5'11, 215lbs, size 34. Usually wear Large on Norrona shorts. Based on reviews, I ordered the XL and it fits perfectly, a tad long.
Very sturdy (though it feels a little heave), planning on wearing it a lot in the next few weeks so I'll update the review.

Great All Around Hiking & Climbing Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

First, these run small. I am 6'0" with a 34 inch waist and 32 inch inseam. The Large was too small in the waist/buttocks/crotch. The L was good in the thighs, lower legs and length. So I ordered a XL. They are good all around, but just about 1/2 inch too long in the length. I guess that I am average American instead of skinny, athletic Norwegian.
Second. They are very heavy duty and will last forever. They move well and do not chafe my legs when hiking. This is important because when you are spending this amount of money, you want a premium product.
Third, they are the right balance for all around activity. They are heavy duty enough to be used during the winter (even though they don't have insulation). But versatile enough for fall or spring actives. I would not use these in the summer unless I lived in Alaska.
Finally, I really like the velcro leg bottoms. I can adjust these to be narrow or act as a gator (and the little longer length is ok then).

Perfect Climbing Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

Got these before trip to the Tetons. They’re the perfect weight for a cold day with plenty of venting for the ascent. Have used them again on Hood many times. Highly recommend.

  • Fit: Runs small

The M is too too narrow at the waist, I usually wear 33-34 trousers but this one didn't fit.(seems only around 31/32 only ). Quite strange cause the old version fit me quite well.

I strongly doubt Norrona's integrity, as a relatively well-respected company, you shall at least follow your own size chart otherwise your are wasting your customer's shipping fee.

These are a great, durable softshell

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

I was hoping to find a softshell pant that I could use for skiing/snowboarding and backcountry touring. I wanted enough water resistance to keep me dry in light precipitation but also have great ventilation. That is exactly what I found in these Norrona pants. I have worn these while snowshoeing many times and they have performed great. I wear these with a base layer under my shell pants for skiing and they breathe enough to keep me dry while insulating enough to keep me warm. I love these pants. I ordered the Medium hoping for more of a slim fit and that is exactly how they fit.

These are a great, durable softshell

do you wear these as a shell layer on the outside ? or you wear these as a mid layer with a different shell on top? i'm trying to figure out if these will fit over a ski boot

Nice but rather tight

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L and XL

These pants fit on the small side.... I tried the L and they were too small all around but even the XL were too tight around the thigh; I'm not that big a person so it was a surprise. They certainly had no space for any long johns underneath so back they all go. Size aside, they are very nice- good pockets and side vent zips. I was surprised that they did not have a way to open up the lower leg more to accommodate larger boots.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

These pants are ok but only survived 30 days casual ski touring before I had to get out the needle and thread. Marketed as a heavy duty pant I was expecting maybe an entire season?! I also had to sew on a bib from an old pair of pants cus skiing without bib pants is cold and wet

Burley hiking pants with stretch

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large

The Norrona Svalbard Heavy Duty Hybrid pant is a updated and modern version of the traditional european hiking pant. With Norrona's stretchy Flex3 softshell and reinforced areas where you need it (knees/rear), these hiking pants are ready to head out on the trail, into the mountains, or just down the street. I think they look especially cool in the two-tone green. These hiking pants breathe very well, and are extremely comfortable, even on longer hikes. Highly recommended!

Are they windproof? Does the 3-layer include a membrane like Powershield?
