GREAT customer service

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I haven't yet used the pack for the intended purpose of a summit pack to use from base camp, but it has been used as a day pack. Very light, very comfortable and seemingly very well constructed. Perfect size and weight for up tempo day hikes and plenty space for 70oz water reservoir along with snacks, lighting, and additional layers of rain or cold gear. One great feature is the small elastic straps at the end of each cinch strap. These are for rolling up and holding in place the excess fabric after tightening the pack down for the individual's size. This feature does away with excess straps flapping around and potentially getting caught on something.

The pack is great, but I am most pleased with Backcountry's customer service. UPS delivered the pack to the wrong address, but would not admit any wrong doing on their part. Gear Head Kyle had a separate pack shipped out the same day he learned the first one had gotten lost and handled the entire claim process with UPS for me. No questions asked, he simply got the gear I needed to me as quickly as possible. Kudos to Backcountry for taking care of the issue without requiring a lot of run-around on my end.

great day pack

very well designed bag, great fit and functionality. it is compact but voluminous. i've been using it on day hikes, mtb rides and as a carry-on for travel. it cinches down nicely when on the bike and doesn't shift around at all. spacious enough to fit a 13" macbook air in the hydration sleeve. the stretchy outer mesh pocket is clutch and the compression straps can be tightened to keep the pocket's contents secure. the cool black color is actually more grayish than black.
