Norrøna Falketind Organic Cotton Pant - Men's

Classic pants for classic climbs.

If you boulder V6 in skinny jeans, imagine how many grades you could jump if you wore the Norrona Falketind Men's Organic Cotton Pant (and spent less time on your hipster haircut). A loose fit gives you tons of freedom for high-stepping, heel-hooking, and awkward knee-dropping, while the Custom-Fit waist adjustment and ankle drawcords let you dial in the fit to your demanding specifications. Bonus: the Falketind is made of organic cotton and recycled polyester, so you can have a clear conscience, and head, while you're going for the send.

Not so bad!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I'm not a fan of cotton or denim fabric because they usually feels too tight. But this is not too bad! Great for hiking in dry and cool weather. It is bit too tight to climb with it.

If you want more comfortable fit, you might want to order a size up.

Great Pants!

These are great even for the price. At a skinny 6'5" (between 180 and 195 lbs depending on what I'm doing/time of year) I don't often find a performance pant that's also a nice fit. I'm generally 33-34 waist/34-36 inseam. The Falketind L fits perfect. Built-in waist adjustment tabs are low profile and work well, haven't needed a belt. The organic cotton is nice (helps justify the price). They're great to work or climb in, also nice to just wear around, being loose but not baggy, and affording a full range of movement (yoga worthy). I like the cinch cuffs, they easily convert to a 3/4 length for climbing, the cuff stays in place on the calf without binding, and I reckon if one's inseam were shorter they'd be easy to adjust for length too. Have worn on a couple short climbs, and to work a couple days -- I'm guessing they are considerably more durable than the Kuhl "Revolver" pants, which I also like but are not especially rugged.

Unanswered Question

I wear 30 x 32 in almost all of my pants. I am thinking of going with the mediums and having them tailored. It would appear that I would have to have them taken in quite a bit in the waist. Good idea or bad idea with this pant? It woud

I ordered these and a pair of the Bitihorn lightweight pants at the same time, and have been wearing both regularly for a week and a half now.

These are lightweight, cool in hot weather, and fit me well. For reference I ordered a medium, and normally wear a 32x30. The ankle drawcords are great, and keep the extra 1.5" of instead length out of the way. I really hate having to have my outdoor pants tailored because it's impossible to find them in a 32x30, so good job, Norrona!

They seem pretty durable, and have just enough pocket space, while not having too much- so they move with me pretty well.

Cool black is a bit more of a grey than it appears to be in the picture- I really wish that the Old Pine color was in stock in a medium, I would pick up another pair in a heartbeat.

The only downside- the 2" belt loops are great, but seem to be a little tighter of a fit than the ones on, say, the Bitihorn lightweight pants. This makes it a little tough to thread the Norrona 29 web belt (it's plenty doable with a little patience though).

To say I love these pants is an understatement. I freaking love these pants. They are so comfortable, soft, and durable. The fabric is nice and light for cold to warm temperatures. The pants are roomy, but not baggy.

At first, the fabric seemed soft and thin. I had my doubts about the Falketind's durability. About a week after I purchased them I tripped while running in the dark. I had road rash on my hands and knee but my pants have no damage.

The drawcord ankle helps keep the pants out of the way when I'm climbing or bike riding.

I am 6'1" 175 lbs. I wear 33x32 pants. I have the large and it's a little big in the waist. I have the velcro waist adjustments cinched all the way down and it fits just fine. My next pair will be the Ionic Blue in a Medium.

I rarely buy multiples of the same item, but I'm getting more Falketinds!

Great review Cam, thanks!
