- Q & A
Great pants, odd pocket placement
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
Great material, lightweight, breathable, and surprisingly moisture repellant. Love the fit and the features. Medium fits a 32 waist snugly, so size up if you are on the fence. The velcro adjusters on the waist will work nicely for those between sizes. Bottom of the pants unzip to accomodate bigger boots (or bigger calves for you bikers). Thigh vents and flexiness are added bonus.
Only complaint is pocket placement. I love Norrona and am familiar with the more tapered/athletic fit but none of the pockets on these quite line up with where your body truly bends. I know it sounds odd, but essentially you cannot place anything solid and larger than a business card in any of the three (3) pockets or it will impede your stride. I do not think it is asking too much for their to be one (1) pocket capable of holding an iphone without affecting your gait. Still love the pants, but have to keep my phone in my pack hip-belt when I wear them.
Oh, and one last caveat; BC and Norrona both list these as weighing 10.3 oz but mine (size medium) weighed 11.25 oz.
Great all-around pant
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought: Large
I just bought my second pair of these pants. The first pair is still in great shape after 3 years of pretty heavy use. I ear these more than any other single piece of clothing - seriously. Norrona clothing is really well thought out. This pant shines for cool weather backpacking and warmer weather skiing. I bike in them too when its cool, and they allow a good range of motion, with a velcro strip at the ankle to keep any loose material out of your chain. They are incredibly durable, showing almost no wear after 3 years. Beside special uses for backpacking and skiing, I take these with me everywhere - all camping trips, awesome for travel, and also great for just wearing around town. They hold their brilliant color after 100's of washing. The large would fit me a bit better if I were about 10 lb heavier, but the adjustable waist still allows a fine fit (I have the adjustment set for the smallest fit in the waist). Love the bright colors. My first pair was blue, and this time I got the green.
