The trickiest part of fall riding is finding kit that manages to both insulate and breathe well. A jersey that warms you up during your first few miles, when your muscles are cold and tight and the rest of you is wondering why you left the house then turns around and cools you off after a long, sunny climb, is the piece of kit everyone yearns to track down. As you climb, descend, and keep pace on the flats, your body temperature changes, and the best thermal jerseys are the ones that adapt, like Nalini Men's X Protector Wind Jersey. Built with one of Nalini's most breathable thermal fabrics, the X Protector was bred to wick moisture first, then insulate second, and it's an ideal combination for the cool mornings and warm afternoons that characterize autumn.
Nalini chose Hot Moa Medium fabric to craft the X Protector, which at first makes the jersey sound like it's better suited for summer, rather than fall, riding. On the contrary, Hot Moa's efficiency at wicking moisture away from your skin and its brushed fleece interior give it the insulating and cooling capabilities we waxed on about so much earlier. The fabric's Moa Mantodry finish repels light showers on misty, cool days, and its reflective accents help you stand out to motorists when light is dimmer than ideal. The Italian brand makes no secret of its affinity for clean, form-fitting silhouettes across its line, trusting a contoured cut for the X Protector and giving it raglan sleeves to allow for greater freedom of movement when you're stretched out in the drops.

- Q & A
Not as pictured.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: XL
I will note that the jersey pictured is not quite what received. The glossy graphics on the arm are actually a chartreuse green. Hence in the size dropdown the Black/Green. Still, not bad to have a pop of color.
Lining of the jersey is soft and the fit is typical Italian: I wear an XL in most Italian brands and it fits me perfectly to my liking. Pockets on this jersey are probably a favor of all my kit. Not sure why, they just work for the stuff I'm usually carrying (ie. spares, food, phone, etc.)
