Whether your weekend trip is for business or leisure, the Mystery Ranch 43L Mission Rover Carry-On Bag helps you bring along plenty of gear for a few days away from home. Its 43-liter capacity is just enough space to pack the essentials without making it too big to easily slide into even the small overhead bins. Instead of being the passenger making a ruckus stuffing and shoving your bag to make it fit, you'll enjoy your time before take off catching up on everything you can do on your phone before switching it to airplane mode. Three carry methods—backpack, shoulder strap, and suitcase-style handle—ensure that you can easily make your way through the airport or walk through the city to your hotel comfortably. Clam-shell zippers let the bag open fully, giving you access to the internal dividing pockets which separate your shoes and dirty laundry from your clean clothes. Mystery Range even added a padded laptop sleeve and a tablet pocket to ensure your electronics have a home, so you're ready to work or play when you arrive at your destination.

Almost perfect for 6mo trip!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Pro: - Clamshell style is A+, which also means there are two dedicated compartments automatically. Mesh pockets on the clamshell covers are nice too. - Strap storage is great to give yourself peace of mind when the bag is being put through TSA or bus undercarriages. - Fit in all overhead bins I encountered. Flew mostly short distance flights in Central/Eastern Europe - Carries so much! I had it at about 90% capacity. Using packing cubes to conform with the shape of the bag is really helpful. - Shoe storage is a nice touch, can fit 2 hard shoes (sneakers, boots) or 3-4 flexible summer shoes. Also can stow lots of small things in the leftover space form the shoes. - Top and side handles are useful and good for tucking jackets, etc. - Heavy duty zippers and pulls are really nice. - Can stand on it's own. - Tough outer shell. - Top pocket on front was surprisingly spacious even when the main compartment was packed. Good for small things. Con: - The lack of a waist belt is my biggest minus. While it can hold a lot, it's pretty harsh on your back. I had to pull the straps pretty tight for it to bearable even for 20-30 min walks (at ~15-8kg) , which can be uncomfortable for chaffing, if you're carrying a personal bag, etc. Strap system lacks some serious structure overall. - Nice, deep outer pockets, but they don't have any structure. So when the bag was full, I didn't use the dedicated pocket for fear it will bend/damage. Instead, I just put it between the bag before folding it closed. - This probably depends on how much you pack, but I found wearing it duffle style was not very practical. Not a lot of cons but not having a waist belt is huge. I didn't know at the time of purchase, but I think it's pretty standard for a 40L+ bag to have waist straps. If you're looking for a bag for a short one week to month trip, I think it's perfect. Plus, not having the straps does take up less space, if you're ok with bearing the weight on your back. Overall, I love it and it will be my go-to travel bag.

Good if you stow, not great for use

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I mainly purchased this to be my gym bag. I park at my office everyday then walk about 3/4 of a mile to the gym, then back. So I needed something to pack every day that could store shoes, clothes, and other items. I also wanted something more functional than just a backpack I stuff. This thing is really nice for clothes as pack. It does have plenty of room and organization for that. As a carry on though and functional daily pack it doesn't have enough organized storage to really work on the outside of the pack. At first I thought this wouldn't be a big deal for me, but I was wrong the first time I needed to get a charger out of it. Traveling with a family, I need access to chargers, snacks, other items, and this just wont cut it. The few external access pockets it does have are tight, and need to also function as laptop storage. If you want to organize it, you need to pack everything in separate bags. If you are a person who just travels with clothes and a few items, this bag would be great. For a person who likes to be prepared, this just doesn't cut it for organization. Also, no water bottle holder is rough. Debating on returning it for credit, or using it for other purposes.
