    Backpack Rain Cover

Nothing is worse than crawling into a wet sleeping bag inside a wet tent and opening a soggy book. Keep your pack dry with the Mountainsmith Rain Cover. These waterproof covers feature full-circumference drawcords, hook-and-loop closures, and integrated stuff sacks.

    • Volume:[X-Small] 1000-1800cu in (15-30L; [Small] 1800-2500cu in (30-40L); [Medium] 2500-3600cu in (40-60L); [Large] 3600-6000cu in (60-100L)

    Don't believe the size description

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

They say size large fits 60-100L. I mean, it will fit, but not if you put anything inside your pack. This wouldn't even fit my 55L pack

    Waterproof it all

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have a favorite Pacsafe backpack for traveling (and daily use) but it isn't really "waterproof" so I got one of these to keep the rain or snow off my gear. Win Win!

    sweet stuff!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This cover is awesome, super simple and held up well in what I experienced. (just a consistent light drizzle for a few hours) Very abrasion resistant which I loved cause I am not cautious. The only downside to this is I felt that the drawchord was pretty weak, but still enough to get the job done! snag one asap!

    Great backup rain cover!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My other rain cover tore so I picked up this one to replace it. So far it seems to protect from the rain (I have not used it in super heavy rain yet) and the large fits my Osprey 80L well enough. It's not super expensive and it gets the job done.

What size did you order for your 80L pack, large?

Great for light to medium rain.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Pretty handy for hiking in the Pacific Northwest. Keeps my gear dry and it's light. Its held up to light to medium rain.

I haven't been caught out in a storm or even just heavier downfall to know how well it will protect my pack. I've had this for a couple years now so far so good.

    Ultra-light - Works as designed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought a large for a 65L pack and it fit nicely with room to cover items strapped to the pack.

    Get the Job Done

Although there is nothing particularly spectacular about this rain cover, it does exactly what you need it to, keeps your pack dry when you're out in the rain. I have only tested in a light drizzle that lasted for a couple of hours, but it kept my pack and more importantly, the gear inside, completely dry.

I bought this for use with my Osprey Aether 70 (the Osprey Rain Covers in that size were out of stock) in the size L, which fits great!

      Snug as a bug!

        Snug as a bug!

        Pretty Solid

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I put this pack cover through the ultimate test when backpacking in Alaska this summer. The first trip out we got caught in a torrential downpour that would have left my gear completely drenched had I not had this pack cover. The nylon taffeta material is fantastic and held up well to abrasion from bush whacking (hello Alaskan backcountry!) The only downside to this pack that I've found is the drawstring cord doesn't keep the cover very secure and was slightly irritating to adjust. That was really my only qualm with this cover. I used it on my Deuter 60 liter when it was fully expanded and purchased the size large. The fit was pretty spot on. Lastly, the integrated stuff sack is a nice feature with this rain cover (never lose another stuff sack again with this!)

        Keeps the rain off

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased the small size rain cover for my Golite Jam 50 Liter bag. The cover is just fine. It doesn't fit perfectly over my bag, and as such, though it has kept my bag dry during several drizzles of rain, I wouldn't expect it to hold up to an especially heavy or windy storm. As others have noted, the material doesn't feel as durable as some pack covers I've seen, but has held up well with some initial use and will work just fine in light rain.

        Great raincover

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've used this cover on several backpacking trips and it always keeps my gear totally dry, very easy to use and folds up into its own little pouch.

        Keeps your gear dry! Seams.....

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have only been caught in the rain and needed this cover 3 times this year since I bought it.

So far it has held out even torrential rain when I have needed it.

So far I have not had problems with the seams but they do not look the best, and I am a bit of a seam stickler so I have to knock of two stars because I highly doubt this is going to last as long as my osprey rain cover.

Keeps bag dry, but breaks easy

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this in a few rainstorms on my backpacking trip. My stuff stayed dry, but the plastic on the drawstring broke after just a few uses. I would spend a little extra money to buy a better made product.
