  • Fleece lined interior traps heat during winter ascents
  • Regular fit easily layers over a base layer for maximum warmth
  • Full-length gusset provides unrestricted mobility on the approach
  • Wide, low-profile waistband fits comfortably all day

Sizing is way off, but can work. Comfy!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 30x32

I wear a 33in waist and probably 33in length in jeans. I had to downsize to 30in waist with these, and 32 length. Leg opening is huge, so will work well if you're trying to wear over large boots, otherwise to wear with shoes you're gonna have bell bottoms basically.

The pants are SUPER comfortable with the fleece lining, they feel like they would keep you warm down to super low temps (single digits maybe?)with a baselayer, and prob 20's with no base.

Originally ordered the 31/34 and I was swimming in the waist and length.

The pants definitely have a good DWR finish from just throwing water on them in the house, we'll see how long it lasts.

For reference, my sizing:
6ft ~175lb
waist (@ belly button) @ 33-34in
hips @ 40-41in
quad @ 23-24in
lower quad/above knee @ 20in

Big but comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 30x30

I don't love these pants but I don't dislike them either. Cons are they run big in the waist and long in the leg. I ordered 30x30 and fits more like a 33x32. Pros are they are very comfortable and warm with the fleece interior. If they came in a true size as advertised, would have gave a much higher rating.

Definitely runs big!

I have tree pairs of Yumalinas myself, and the things are divine! If it didn't have to be darned cold to wear them, they'd be my go-to bottoms because they are so comfortable. Mine are true-to-size. (The Yumas the MH used to make ran narrow through the thighs, for whatever reason, and you had to order a size up.)

We are moving to Minnesota, and I am stocking up on off-season apparel. I was luck enough to find the Yumalinos for my husband, sure he'd love them. I saw that the review were running from 'too big' to 'true to size.' This caused me to buy the pants in three different sizes.

My husband is about 5'11" 170#. His dress trouser/jeans size is 32/34. I ordered 32/34, 32/32, and 31/32. The lengths are perfectly accurate as we are used to them. Even the legs were not remarkable for fit issues. The waist? The 31" didn't fit even with a belt. Basically, the whole "underwear area" was disproportionately large, almost as if they were made for a woman's (read: has a butt) frame. Luckily, there is an unusually large range of sizes (well done, MH!), and I was able to find a 30/34.

Bottom line, a fantastic pant (in my experience with the womens' pant). Do order your regular length and drop the waist 2".

(Measurements given for reference are my husband's.)

OK, but runs very big

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 32x30

I ordered the 32 waist. They are more like a 34. The inseam is longer then expected as well. Was going to send them back, but didn't feel like paying for the shipping. OK pants, but I'll be needing to wear mine with a belt

OK, but runs very big

Great for cold weather outings

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 30X34

Good for winter hiking and snowshoeing, plenty warm and breathable, look good enough the go out to lunch after.

Odd fit. Unsure of durability.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are very comfortable pants. The lining is really soft and warm. They've been getting a lot of use this winter. I wish the leg of the pants wasn't so loose though . Even when wearing large boots they seem baggy. I would prefer a slightly tapered leg but these are a very generous straight leg. The material seems durable enough but after wearing about a dozen times the stitching started coming out in some areas. I really didn't expect that but hopefully it's just a fluke.

Great pant for chilly weather

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XXL

I bought these for those chilly days on the sidelines of kids soccer games and they have been great. Wind resistant is very good, softshell finish to repel rain and nice fleece lining. Will be wearing these for a lot more cold weather activity . Some say it runs large, I’d say it’s probably on the roomy side of the size chart not necessarily large

My go to pants for winter camping. I can parkour on rocks or roll in the snow. Tough and flexible. Perfect for temps down to the 20-30s.

Perfect Midwest Pants

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34×30

I got my dad these pants for Christmas because there are days/weeks in Wisconsin when the temperature stays below zero. Unlined pants just aren't an option. He said the fit is good and the fleece is really nice. They're great all around pants, can be worn to work, to run errands, or to snow blow the drive way. I would definitely recommend these to friends and family as a great winter pant.

Warm pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Size Bought: 32x32

These are really comfortable with the soft fleece lining. The shell is water repellent yet still soft and really flexible. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the waist seems to stretch too much after a few hours of use and I need to use a belt.

Love em!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32 x 32

Finally had a chance to wear these pants and I must say I really liked them. They are warm but not overly hot, have great stretch and the fleece lining is very soft and cozy. I tested these out in 35-40º temps and never felt really uncomfortable.

Regarding the sizing, in most pants I wear a 32 x 32 and I found these to be true to size in both the waist and in the inseam. They maybe 1/4-1/2" larger in the waist, but I find this an acceptable variance. These are not however slim fit pants and I would say the legs openings are closer to a standard straight fit pant or slightly relaxed straight fit pant. They are a little baggy, but I find the look acceptable with a pair of boots, hiking shoes or old school New Balance sneakers. They won't look good with a pair of Vans or similar styled shoe, but then again, why are you wearing this type of pant with that style of shoe?

Overall, I am giving these 4 stars as i would like to have seen a slightly slimmer leg or at least some adjust-ability at the cuff, similar to what the Marmot Scree Pants have.

6'2 185pounds 32/34 Fits Perfect - COMFY

Love these pants. Great fit for my size. Fleece lining feels great not itchy. It's a bit warm but perfect for low 40's and below. Cuff fits well and relaxed over casual shoes or hikers without looking awkwardly tight (I hate that) Just the right stretch for bending down to get the fire going and comfy in the sleeping bag. Great all around chilly weather pant. I even where them around the house as pj's some days. Wife says they make my butt look good too so.

    Excellent, non-technical soft shell pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 x 32

I ordered these pants as soft shells for alpine hiking. They are cut and outfitted more like a pair of jeans, with open cuffs, no zippers/internal gaitors. I've worn them for a couple of snow shoes in moderately cold conditions (20 - 30 F) with gaitors, and they are both wind and water resistant, and have plenty of give in the fabric. I also had a bartender dump a 16oz beer on my lap. The beer rolled right off the surface, and after a rinse in the shower that night, they dried quickly and were good to go for the following day. I wouldn't select these pants for serious alpine adventures, but they are a very comfortable, breathable soft-shell that will likely perform well for moderate hikes/scrambles in cool conditions. I'm 5' 11' and 165 lbs, and originally ordered a 31x32 based on the description, but ended up with 32x32, as they were better fitting at the waist, and I generally wear a belt.

    Very nice!

      Comfortable and fitting well

These pants are my first soft shell pant and I am really impressed. Wore these on a 18 degree hike on the AT with a slight wind with no base layer. They really kept me warm with no problem. My next hike was 25 degrees with high winds and I never felt the wind cut through. I am 5'10", 191 lbs and wear 34/30 in jeans. I was skeptical after reading all the reviews but I ordered the 32/30. The length i believe is true to size as they are perfect length (maybe a quarter inch longer). The 32 waist works for me but only after wearing them several times on a hike AND sleeping in them to stretch them out! They did stretch out some. I am really avoiding washing these. If/when i do I will not dry them. When I buy my next pair (and I will) I will choose the 33 waist. BC doesn't seem to carry this waist size although other companies do!

      Pants for giants!!! :D

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 33x34

These are awesomeeee for my guy because he's so tall. 34" inseam is a must, and outdoor pants don't usually come in anything other than 30-32". He's so hard on clothes that he usually doesn't get more than one year out of anything other than dress shirts and pants, but these have held up like nothing else. No rips or tears, the fleece is still soft, they don't shrink in the washer/dryer, and they still shed water. My only 'complaint' is that they do stretch out, so he needs a belt with the first pair I bought. Just going to size down the waist in the second pair. The only reason he even needs a second pair is so that he doesn't complain for the one hour that they're in the wash!
It'd be great if they made these same ones without the fleece lining - they're flattering enough that he'd probably never wear anything else.

      Super comfy... Beware Crampons

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 38 W / XL

So this is totally my fault. But these pants are way comfy. My intended purpose was to use these with snowshoeing just to take the edge off of really cold ascents.

These pants are baggy. That in part plays to their comfort however.

As I was hiking along I found a bluff that looked fun and so I threw on my crampons and took the face. The problem with baggy pants and crampons is the crampons snag super easy. Resulting semi-shredded pants. In hind-site no one should really use crampons unless you are also using gaiters. Lesson learned... I would buy another pair, they're just that comfy.

      Perfect winter pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 28x32

The Yumalino Softshell Pants are like wearing sweat pants with the inner fleece lining. The outer fabric reminds me of my Prana Stretch Zion's, very similar feel and quality. I normally wear size 30 but ordered these in 28 and they fit perfectly. The fit is similar to a pair of loose jeans. Love these, will get more if they ever wear out.

Just for clarification. I think you may have meant to say these run large. As in you ordered a 28 and that fits up to a 30 in waist.

      How to Measure:
All measurements correspond to equivalent body measurements, not the dimensions of the garment. For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
