Why We Like The Stretchdown Hooded Jacket

Positioned as one of our favorite technical midlayers, the Stretchdown Hooded Jacket is great for layering under a rain jacket on a blustery hike, or wearing on its own to the brewery. The 700-fill goose down effectively traps warmth, breathes with us, and packs down easily once we switch from belaying to climbing.

Love this jacket

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Super comfortable and moves nicely. Love the hood. Great for transition weather and keeps you warm and toasty. Love the new Jack Pine color. Can't wait to wear on the cool days. love the front chest pocket and the waist adjustment pulls.

Style points but no function points

Jacket looks great and is much more wearable out and about that my other puffy. However it stains SUPER easily. Can’t hide anything on that color. In my attempt to wash it (sustainably with down wash), all of the feather collected in to various pockets of the jacket and now there is little to no insulation though the hood and arms. I can’t figure out how to redistribute the down so I will be returning if backcountry will accept the request. Super bummed because I love the comfort and fit of the jacket but just don’t see this being practical in the long term.

Super light weight warm jacket…

Love this very lightweight stretch down jacket! Its perfect for layering and long enough to keep warmth where needed. The colours are lovely and pockets with zips perfect.

XL runs at least a size too small

I was excited to try this jacket because I have pretty wide shoulders so I was hoping the stretch would help. I looked at the measurements just like I always do and was pretty confident that the XL would fit well maybe a bit snug in the hip if the jacket didn't run too short (like most mountaineering brands in my experience). This jacket fit at least a size too small, maybe even 2 sizes. The stretch meant I could get it on and zipped but it was incredibly tight and short. I even flat measured (double to get the measurement around) it with my fabric measuring tape because I could not believe how off it was. Height from neckline to back hem: 26" Chest 19" Waist 19" Hip 20.5" This is way off from the XL/16!!!! measurement in the MH women's apparel measuring chart. (I attached the image). these measurements align closer to a M/L 10/12 The fabric felt nice but the sizing is way off and if you are tall or have a long torso (like me) this is probably not the jacket for you

Runs Large

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Love this jacket and needed to return the small I ordered for an extra small and that worked great. The smaller size allowed me to have multiple layers underneath as I would have normally done with a size small. Size down!
