Stylish coat, but has some faults.

Love this coat, the colour is golden brown and beautiful. Comfy and strechy, and has kept me warm in -15, but still comfortable at 0. My only issue with it is the down does tend to migrate as the baffles are open throughout the jacket. A wash and a bit of work shaking it back to the shoulders has done the trick, but it's still a bit frustrating. But, the open baffles are alot more visually appealing in my opinion, so I'm willing to sacrifice that minor inconvenience. I wear a women's medium, and the men's small fits me well. Material is lightweight and breathable, but feels pretty durable still.

Purchased this jacket, the colour is completely off from what is advertised on the website.

I want to love this jacket.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This jacket does almost everything right. It is comfortable, it stretches, it has the ability to cinch at the waist. Its more of a "town" jacket or something you could put a shell over, but it looks nice and is comfortble. Now this issue? The darn hand holes (arm holes, whatever you call them) are about 2" bigger than they should be and have no ability to cinch. MH should either tighten them up a bit, or put a velcro strap on to be able to tighten them, otherwise you feel like a clown in the jacket.

Even Better

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have known and loved the Stretchdown for years for the softer face fabric and supreme warmth. I think the updates make it even better. Mainly there has been a slight reduction in fill that makes it a more versatile overall, giving the ability to layer underneath a shell jacket. I also really appreciate the distinctive baffle design which sets it apart from the puffy crowd. The stretchiness of the fabric does allow for a more technical fit, but if you are in-between sizes consider checking out the size up as well.

So close to perfection!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This jacket fits me almost perfectly with a bit of room underneath for a base layer and even a thicker fleece or a sweater. For me, the arms are more fitted than the torso especially in the arm pits. Not a problem really as it increases the mobility in the arms. If I reach up, the rest of the jacket doesn't follow. The length is perfect and the hood has plenty of room without being huge. It's nice and warm and shrugs off cold wind pretty well without being a laminated shell. The face fabric feels a bit coarser than some of my other jackets. At first, it feels like it would be more durable but the fabric is actually pretty thin. I'll have to wait and see how it holds up. The jacket is very lightweight and stretchy though, so that is nice. There are a couple things that could be better. First, the zipper is oddly fiddly to start, and I find myself having to look down to figure out what's holding up the process. Second, in order to cinch down the hood you have to unzip the collar to access the internal cords. It's kind of a good and bad thing, because I really like how all the cinch cords are hidden, but I also don't want to have to unzip the collar in the cold to adjust the hood. I'm very interested to see how it holds up over time, but I'm hopeful that with the proper care it will last a while.

Great Active Piece

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I love this jacket and the way it moves with me as I'm pursuing the days objectives. It's a great layer for the moderately chilly mornings but not so warm it can't be worn inside when grabbing the pre-send fuel. The waist sinch cord being inside the pockets took some getting used to but it's a great feature to prevent the cord from getting snagged on tree branches and the like. I also really like that the pockets are deeper than the zipper so things are less likely to fall out if the zipper is accidentally left open. The fit is true to size, I typically wear XL in mid and base layers which is what I ordered and it fits very well. #BackcountryGearhead

Clean and Simple Puffy

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nice jacket, I have only worn it a couple times but so far I like it and it will be added to the rotation. The Material feels more cloth like than your traditional down puffy jacket and it was plenty warm the other morning when i used while blowing snow off the driveway. I have a little bit of a love hate relationship with the zipper however. I really like how easy it is to zipp all the way up especially when getting up to the last few inches in the face area, I also like the two way and that i can open it up at the bottom. I do however struggle a bit every time I’m trying to start the zipper. I like that all the pockets are insulated to the outside even the chest pocket, doesn’t seem like much but if you put a phone in the breast pocket it won’t be as subjected to the elements and will maintain battery life longer. Packability is ok perhaps if i was going backpacking i would pick something that would pack down a bit more but for regular car camping or around town and walking the dogs great jacket. when i first put the jacket on i notice that i would like to have a little bit more room in the armpit area, but once i head out for activities i forget all about that and it hasn’t bothered me. I’m 5’9” 185lbs 32” inseam with 42” chest. I got a large and i feel it fits true to size.

Almost to warm

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

A very solid puffer/ down coat. I purchased the burnt orange color and instantly fell in love. The color just pops. I have had a ton of compliments. the certified RDS goose down is a good bonus. Very, very warm. Perfect for those BLUE BIRD days or when a shell is not required. It is not very bulky when needed to pack down in to a pack for some backcountry touring. Looks hell-a stylish on the town or at apres'.

Warm coat

Very warm coat almost to warm sometimes especially when you get into you vehicle. But that’s my only complaint.
