Not what it used to be.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have owned the previous version of this jacket since 2011 and it has been SO GOOD to me. But, the new Phantom parka is a joke in comparison. First off, there are no wrist cuffs of any kind and no elasticity in the wrist area so cold air can pour in. With no wrist cuffs, the ends of the sleeves will definitely deteriorate very quickly. The waist does have a bungee cord but its weak and difficult to adjust, allowing even more cold air in. The biggest issue with the jacket though is the zipper, it stinks. I could barely zip/unzip it in my warm living room with no gloves on. I can't imagine trying to fiddle with the zipper in the climate that this jacket is meant to be used in. Lastly, the sizing is very different, I am 6'0" 160 lbs and my old Large fit perfectly. The new Large is a lot bigger in all areas. Not a deal breaker, just would need to order a smaller size than expected. Im surprised that MH has taken such a great jacket and ruined it, but I have been told by friends in the industry that MH quality has gone way down hill, so i guess its not that surprising. I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the materials and the down fill seem above average for the price, but unfortunately, that wont do you much good when the sleeves fall apart and you cant get the zipper to work.
