2017 Model has poor fit. Buy a 2016 one

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

The classic Monkey Man fleece is amazing. Thick, warm and fuzzy. It had a good cut and fit well. The 2016 redesign made it not as thick but had an overall good design. I would have made the cuffs a little narrower and maybe the neck too. However it had good fit in the body, arms and shoulders. What I would call a classic Mountain Hardwear fit. I liked it enough I recently bought a new one.

Big mistake.

The 2017 version is a big step down in fit and quality. The arms are too short and the fit in the shoulders is too tight. The jacket just seems cheaper in quality too. Nothing like the classic MH fit at all. Sent back a 2017 and bought another 2016.

For reference I am 6'4 and wear a 16x35 shirt and 42L jacket. I bought a size Large in both jackets. Large normally fits me great in Mountain Hardwear. The 2017 does not. It is too small.

sweet soft fleece.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

no kidding its soft, everyone loves to rub on it. {not bad if your single}
its a lightweight tough fleece. fits great, looks great. I wear it under my MH shell.

loose cuffs

This jacket seems well made and is very soft but is thinner than I hoped it would be. The thing that really killed it for me is the loose sleeve cuffs. This seems to be the trend with most fleece jackets these days. The cuffs hang loose over part of your hand. I don't understand it. I need a cuff that seals out wind and stays out of the way.

    Softest jacket I own!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This is by far the most comfortable jacket I own! This jacket is incredibly soft. Perfect for those chilly fall days. I really like the stretchy material around the wrist! It really holds your sleeves in place when you pull them up.

I gave it 4 stars because if you are as clumsy as I am you will most likely spill something on the jacket. I spilled a little bit of milk on the jacket and didn't notice until it clumped up on the jacket after it had dried. All I had to do was use a wet napkin on it and the dried milk came right off!
