High-loft warmth in a lightweight and compressible package.
The Mountain Hardwear Women's Kelvinator Hooded Jacket delivers high-loft, balmy down warmth, and it's light and compressible enough to tag along on your climbing and backpacking trips. The Kelvinator is stuffed full of 650-fill Q.shield water-resistant down that has a high warmth-to-weight ratio and that won't loose its loft or warmth when things start to get soggy out. And the 20D nylon ripstop shell resists tearing when you're handling climbing gear, or bush-whacking to the crag. Elastic cuffs and hood let you seal in heat while you're on belay or hanging out around the fire, and dual hem drawcords let you get the right fit while you're on the move.

- Q & A
Hi, what's the fill weight on this one?
Very Warm and Light
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: small
As I said in the subject it is very warm and lightweight. It has a very soft & fluffy luxurious feeling to it. It fit me perfectly. I was glad it ran a bit large, so it won't be binding when wearing a sweater underneath.
Oh so lovely
This jacket is like getting a big ol hug every time I put it on. Defiantly a big mountain jacket packed into 650 fill. Large baffles make this coat a bit on the puffy side (which is what I wanted), and it packs in the warmth. Northern Michigan winters are no match for this jacket. As the other reviews said, it does run a bit on the large side. I am always a small/medium (5'5", 140 athletic build) in jackets and the small fits perfectly. Longer in the back, but not too much. Arms are nice and long. All around a very well made, comfortable jacket. I was under the impression that it came with internal pockets, but it does not. Not a biggie, still love it.
Good jacket - big in arms
This jacket for great, but the arms were a bit big in proportion to the rest of it. I felt a little bit like the hulk because they were specifically big around the biceps. For being so puffy, I expected it to be warmer. For another location I'm sure it's awesome, but for a cold, humid, windy winter in Kansas, it wasn't quite warm enough for me. (I am 5'5" 134 lbs and I ordered an XS).
Orange color is see through
I got this in a couple of colors to see what I liked best. The orange color is see through - if there are any random dark feathers inside, you see them from the outside and they look like dirt smudges. Definitely go with a darker color if that's something that would bother you.
Kelvinator Hooded Jacket
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
Great jacket, super comfortable on, really bummed they don't have my size. Runs really big, ordered the large so I could layer underneath. But, the large is like an x-large.
Love this jacket!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs large
I bought this jacket to replace a different brand down jacket that was losing it's feathers. This jacket has more than replaced my other one. Winter in Wisconsin is pretty unpredictable. I have used this jacket to go to work, take my dog for a walk in -30 degree windchills, and in 20 degree weather. This jacket has kept me warm and comfortable. It is light and puffy. It runs a bit big, but that is perfect for layering underneath. If I could change something, it would be to make the hood be adjustable. Otherwise this jacket is perfect for what I bought it for. Thank you Mountain Hardwear and Backcountry!!!
Rain or Shine
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
I gave this jacket to my brother's fiancee as a gift for Christmas this year and she absolutely loves it. Per usual with Mountain Hardware, it fits true to size. The down itself is incredibly light and the Q. Shield Down is truly handy for winter around here in Utah where it will be sunny one moment, and the next it will be hailing. So even if your weather conditions are unpredictable, this jacket is perfect for all cold weather conditions. Further, she found the hood to be truly handy when it gets even colder out, so if you're on the fence about a hooded down jacket or one without a hood, go for the hood, it will be worth it.
