Kind of wimpy for a down coat!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I’m not particularly impressed with the thickness of this jacket and I almost returned it. It’s paper thin. I bought it at a meaningful discount so decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of returning but I wouldn’t buy it again.

Does not hold up

Material is light but it will rip on anything. Had mine for about a year, so far around 10 holes in the fabric.

Problem Solved!

Got the 800 pants for walking my dogs... already reviewed them. My dear wife picked up the 800 jacket for me this week (20Nov2023). When your core is warm it helps your extremities... just did a fatbike ride in 25 degrees just now... I felt like 70. Looking forward to 0°. Buy, wear and use this gear and you will know how geese do it! So lite yet insanely warm. One of those purchases you never think twice about.

Awesome but not as warm as advertised

I love the fit and the weight of this jacket but it's not as warm as advertised? I was freezing hiking at 40°ish degrees and had wool on underneath. I feel for the price, there is a warmer jacket at with an unnoticeable weight difference.

Fantastic jacket...if it fits
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I wanted to keep this jacket so badly but it just didn't work for my body. I'm 6' 0", 155 pounds with a 39" chest and I ordered a Medium. The Ghost Whisperer is an odd mix of slim fit/boxy fit, and for me the cut was the exact opposite of what I needed. The medium was tight across my chest and armpits (wearing just a t-shirt) and slightly loose through the body. I would have been fine with the body dimensions but the chest/armpits were just too constricting.

very light
ordered this and a handful of other down jackets to compare. This one was the lightest and also the most expensive. although it seemed like a very good ultralight option, I wanted something less fragile and couldnt justify paying the premium. Ended up returning due to the fragile feeling of the fabric and the zipper also didnt feel durable. also very boxy fit. went with a decathalon jacket, only slightly heavier but seems more durable and less than half the price.

Fantastic jacket - if it fits you
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The jacket is super light and warm. The shell seems like it would be torn easily but in reality it is pretty durable. The only reason it didn't work out for me was that the arm pit area is a bit snug so when you try and stretch it would add some tightness in the pit area. If the arm holes line up with your arms then this will be the jacket for you, unfortunately for me it didn't line up for me.

Love but

I just got this jacket in the purple man's size. It seems that Mountain Hardwear can't come up with a size for womens who are well endowed. I love most MH jackets but I consistently struggle with getting a coat that fits and the arms are not hugely long. I have 3 problems with their jackets. They need to bite the bullet and upgrade their zippers to something like the patagonia nano puff so it's easy to use. A two way zipper would be a bonus. There hoods need either a bungee or some way to tighten it so it stays put without needing a scarf around the outside of the hoodie. Lastly they need a little longer jacket by like two inches that is looser on the bottom but has a bungee to tighten it. Please come up with some larger womens sizes so I can shop for the womens colors. I would like to see a but looser fit overall. Your best example would be the mens Nano puff.
