Worked well

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this shirt after reading many positive reviews and was not at all disappointed. Paddled in Baja for a week with it. Washed it out once, it dried rapidly and back on it went.

Excellent top!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I recently purchased this top for sun and wind protection and it didn’t disappoint. I wore this for my long run last weekend and it was wonderful. It was cloudy with north wind gusts and it kept the occasional sun and dirt off of me the whole time. It’s thin enough to be cool but yet it also kept me comfortable temp-wise. I like the drawstring at the waist as well. It fit true to size in my opinion. The zip pocket on the side is really small though. I think one energy gel or a car key would fit and that’s it. I see another Crater Lake hoodie in my future.

The best hoodie!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Love this sun hoodie so much! Fits like a dream and keeps me protected and surprisingly cool hiking under the Arizona sun. It’s so comfortable I can easily sleep in it, which makes it invaluable during backpacking trips. So far, no pilling or damage from pack straps. Also, I can wear it into town without feeling like a schlub.

Love my Crater Lake Hoodie

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I purchased the Crater Lake hoodie for warm days of hiking in Arizona. It fits and performs as advertised. It will be my go-to shirt for warm, sunny day hikes. I love it.

Seam ripped after 1 HR

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Disappointed, I too had the seam fall apart above the thumb hole on left forearm. Worn only for a travel. Love the material, print, and fabric. 5stars but with construction, I gave 4.

Nice sunshirt

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I ordered this sun shirt as well as the Simms. There's nothing wrong with this shirt: it fits well and is sized accordingly, the material is soft and seems to have washed up fine, it has a nice hood and sleeve thumbholes. I have long arms, so the sleeves are just right as is, but if you have long arms and want to use the thumbholes this shirt may not be the best for you. The drawstring along the waist seems rather useless. I'm probably going to just pull it out. The pocket is pretty useless as well. It would fit a chapstick or maybe a small keychain, but nothing else. Overall, I like the Simms sun shirt better because of it's cut and material quality.

Fit changed

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have this hoodie in the green color from a few years ago in a size medium. I ordered the same in the light purple this year and the sleeves are too short! I had to size up to a large to get the sleeve length and now the body is baggy and doesn’t look nice. Also, I’d be happier if they put the string in the hood instead of around the hem… That dangling string gets sucked between your thighs when you’re running. Other than that this is the best Sun shirt I’ve found as far as the fabric weight, stretch, thumbholes and it has a pocket!

Women’s crater lake long sleeve hoody

It’s lightweight and cool. It’s great for gardening. I need waist high pants to prevent a gap when I bend over.

Great sun layer

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This really comfortable and light weight layer. I like the fit of it and love it as an option for sun protection. I do think the pocket isn't very functional as the material isn't really sturdy enough for weighted objects; maybe just a key? I did notice some fraying around the thumb holes after a few uses (not near any rocks or any washes) as mentioned in some other reviews. Also, I got the zinc blue color, which is pretty but it doesn't have the cool ripple pattern as shown in a couple of the images. Kinda bummed about that, but that's not a deal breaker. Overall, this is a super packable and nice option to keep the sun off your skin.

Stellar shirt

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Super awesome shirt I have put through the wringer for day hikes, backpacks, scrambling, glacier travel. Just returned from an 8 day high alpine backpack trip and wore this for 8 days straight! The only downside to continuous daily usage was that the printing on the inside collar transferred to my skin, so my upper back was covered with screen printed letters - it made for a great comic relief in the backcountry! Overall, this shirt has been perfect for layering in all kinds of weather and excellent sun protection with the thumbholes and hood. I plan on buying another to have 2 on rotation. Side note: the day I first wore this I had to immediately remove the silly drawstring on the bottom. Not only is it in the way, and unnecessary, I find it quite unflattering. Women don't need frills. Just give us something solid to crush the outdoors.
