Cloud Bank GTX Jacket

The Mountain Hardwear Cloud Bank GTX Jacket is a premium shell designed for tearing up cold resort days whether you're lapping the groomers or hiking up to your favorite line and getting fresh turns in the powder. Built with Gore-Tex Stretch fabric, you'll stay comfortable and dry all day long while being unrestricted thanks to the fully waterproof and breathable membrane and stretch construction. Body-mapped insulation adds adequate warmth for any day on the hill, and reinforced panels in key areas add extra durability for finding pockets of fresh snow in the trees. The 3-way adjustment in the helmet-compatible hood keeps your face warm and protected on blustery storm days and an added powder skirt keeps snow from sneaking in to your kit when Mother Nature provides you with endless powder.

  • A jacket built for cold powdery days at the resort
  • Gore-Tex membrane is waterproof and breathable to keep you dry
  • Stretch construction provides freedom of movement
  • Reinforced panels in key areas add extra durability
  • Zippered pockets securely hold snacks or other essentials
  • Helmet compatible hood keeps face protected on blustery days
  • RECCO reflectors aide in recovery in case of emergencies

Great Piece

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M

First Off - The crew at BC is awesome and the chat sessions are helpful.
I replaced an arcteryx top of the line shell with this jacket. I have been a avid Arcteryx & Mountain Hardware fan for more than 20 years.
I loved the Arcteryx shell and put almost 1000 days on it before it simply fell apart. I could not wrap my arms around replacing it with another Arcteryx due to cost/value.

I decided on an insulated jacket and matching pants as I am 56 now and the cold gets to me sometimes and I hate having four layers under a shell to stay warm.

First day with this and the matching MH pants and I was more comfortable than I have been in years. It was a 5F day and I was toasty warm all day. I tele all the time and the freedom of movement was excellent. The pants are a much better fit than the Arcteryx pants I used to use.

This is great stuff and nobody should pay 2X for an equal product.

My only issue and it is across the board - Almost all jackets today fit without any shape. If a guy is fat, great, if a guy is trim and fit. not great. I wish there was a waist adjustment to have the jacket fit a bit trimmer.

I would certainly buy this jacket again. Pants too.

Good jacket with some caveats.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Just took this out to Vail and there was a good mix of conditions. It was super warm, I stayed dry, and the pocket situation wasn't confusing at all. My one complaint: maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the jacket is NOT helmet compatible. I tried and tried but I couldn't get the hood to fit over the helmet. Kind of a bummer in a white out.

How to Measure:
All measurements correspond to equivalent body measurements, not the dimensions of the garment. For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
