Ditch the denim.

Sure, those denim pants of yours look great around town, but they hold sweat like a sponge and are about as stretchy as a tree—that's not very stretchy, by the way. Point is, when you need a pair of pants that manage moisture, offer plenty of stretch, and are durable enough wrestle some pebbles in, look no further than the Mountain Hardwear Men's Chockstone Hike Pants. They're made from the legendary Chockstone fabric and are Mountain Hardwear's most technical hiking pants, but that's not to say that you can't wear them climbing or backpacking, because they're designed to fit comfortably in a harness or under your backpack's waist belt.

These are my favorite lightweight softshell pant. They are the right weight for everything from backpacking to alpine climbing, are trim but not too trim, feature a belt and cinch ankle cuffs, and are super durable. I've taken them on several climbing trips, about 5 backpacking trips and wear them for all sorts of other things; they are high quality and holding up great.

These pants fit great, the pockets are all zippered which is awesome.

I wear the mountain hardwear chockstone shorts all the time so when the time came I needed pants, then got these. Similar to the shorts though, these have build quality issues as well (see attached photo) out of the box.
