Bizarre Fit

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Material is impressively light while still feeling durable, and I have no doubt it will fulfill its primary purpose as a sun shirt. Two negatives, unfortunately 1. Workmanship is mediocre -- lots of loose threads 2. The fit seems off. As a 5'6" slight male I'm unfortunately used to "small" sizes being over-generous in the torso, which this certainly is. But the arms on this shirt are bizarrely long, which is less common. I've had a number of oddly-fitting pieces from Mountain Hardware recently -- it may be time to seek out other brands.

Review for fit only

I just got this and haven't worn it yet. I'm 6' 2.5", 168 lbs, with chest 39". In dress shirts, I wear 15.5 neck, 36 sleeve. I bought Medium in this shirt based on reviews that commented on how billowy it is. It fits perfectly on the torso--fitted, but not tight. The sleeves could be another 1/2" longer, but for a Medium the sleeve length is fabulous. I haven't used it yet, but assume that quality will be up to Mountain Hardwear standards. I appreciate that the front button placket is fairly stiff with the first non-collar button up pretty high. That means that wearing it with the collar unbuttoned won't cause the shirt to slump down on the right side like lots of lightweight sun shirts do (sp. Columbia). The collar also feels quite substantial, so having it not be a button-down should be okay.

color is off

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Nice shirt, but the "stone green" is anything but that color. It looks "light green/greyish" with white buttons in the picture, but what is sent out is a dark olive green one with dark green buttons. My guess is the website pictures are old, so buyer beware on your desired color - if that matters to you. See pic.

S is the right fit for me at 5?7? and 150 lbs. Fabric is light, soft, comfy. Button down pockets flaps are a good idea to keep phone or thin cardholder secure.

Best hiking shirt

This is the best hiking shirt I've ever owned. It fits well, breathes extremely well, and is cool in hot weather. It washes and dries quickly and seems very durable. I've worn it hiking and fishing many times over the last few months and it looks like new. The color I got is called Phoenix Blue but it looks more like a very light grey to me.

Great lightweight shirt

Fantastic lightweight summer shirt for sun protection while staying cool. I'm a pretty fit guy so I could prefer if it were a bit more of a slim fit, but it is true to size, just a little loose.

Perfect hiking shirt

Perfect shirt for getting out on the trails. Breathes very well and I love that I can button the sleeves up if needed. It dries out quickly and I haven’t experienced any chaffing from the material while wearing a pack. Front pocket zips help air flow and the 3-fold collar means I don’t need to wear a buff (tight and gets sweaty) to keep the back of my neck from burning. I will buy this again. 100% recommend.

Beautfully functional and comfortable

I've had an older version of this shirt for many years. I just wore it on a 66 km backcountry hike to Mount Assiniboine. This new shirt looks to be even better - lighter weight and even more comfortable.

Nice shirt

This shirt is pretty breathable! I already had two of these and I ordered a third one. I wore the first two on the trail for a six day hike and I was satisfied. I also wear them on a day to day basis and they look nice.

Expedition Shirt

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) An ultralite versatile summer shirt with double zip pockets. I have an orange and now a grey. Good venting, stays dry, and very packable. I would like to get more but availability of a medium is hard to find. cheers, s.
