The sports car on vertical walls.
Ride in the Misty Mountain Women's Cadillac Harness whether you're climbing big walls in Yosemite or ice climbing in Denali. There are two buckles at the waist and one at each leg to accommodate summer or winter climbing outfits, and Cordura reinforcements ensure long-lasting durability. Misty Mountain added six gear loops for a plethora of big wall gear, and there are side slots for ice clippers. The rear webbing haul loop accommodates big bags of gear as well as chalk bags for those few-and-far-between days at the gym.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
My mom is a big trad climber and she needed a new harness to do multi pitch trad so I got this harness for her. She normally carries her gear on a sling but wanted to try racking cams/nuts/slings on the harness. Works great! The upper loops are orientated upwards so that when you place gear on it, it bends down at about a 90 degree angle making it easy to get to gear on the loops underneath. Love the two buckles at the waist which keeps it centered. Thought it might run a little large. I bought her a small which is the size she is in Black Diamond and could have gone with a XS in the Misty but will stick with the small. She's probably between the two. It's not too heavy which was an initial concern, but it doesn't feel any heavier than the Black Diamond harness. Great product!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
If you do multipitch trad climbing, then you're familiar with the traffic jam that is your 4 gear loops when you're heading up the pitch (or as you're cleaning up after your leader). If you've ever wished you had a couple extra gear loops, then you need this harness in your life.
The harness has 3 gear loops on each side, and they're offset (two on top, one underneath). The two on the bottom can get to be a little inaccessible when you're loaded up, so I use those to hold gear I won't need right away (cordelette and webbing, rappel device, gloves, etc.), and that frees up the top four gear loops for cams, stoppers, and draws. Nice and organized! :)
I originally ordered the basic version, but I exchanged it for the Quick Adjust version instead. The QA version is much easier to get in and out of and — like the name implies — to quickly adjust it for comfort. So worth the five extra bucks.
My ONE gripe with this harness — and it's idiosyncratic — is that I can't stand it when companies make women's gear in pink/purple (or put flowers/butterflies/unicorns on it). Drives me CRAZY. But I took a wise woman's advice and covered up the purple stitching with some Beal Rope Marker. Voila. Now the stitching is black! :) :) :)
Comfort & Quality
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Very comfortable. Perfect for multi pitch climbing. Quality seems solid.
So much gear!
Got this for a family member who loves trad climbing. She loves this harness. The adjustability in the legs and the waist is top notch. And those gear loops! if your a trad climber you know this harness. You'll see it all over the creek and people swear by them. Not only will it take a beating in perfect splitters, it is still light enough to take out for a day of sport climbing. I believe all these harnesses are hand made. No factory line for misty mountain, just a bunch of climbers who want to provide gear and reliable gear for everyone.
