Metolius Inferno Wiregate Carabiner
MetoliusInferno Wiregate Carabiner

A climber in need is a climber indeed.

If being light and fast is your game, you’ll love the clip-and-go attitude behind the Metolius Inferno Wiregate Carabiner. The mad Metolius scientists gave the inferno a gaping gate opening for those clips that ride on a prayer and a thumb, and a generous strength rating of 28kN ensures this ‘biner withstands the forces you put on it. At just 35 grams, you may barely notice the Inferno until you really, really need it.

Here is a good visual of sizing for these biners!

Bomber gear

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First of all, I love all Metolius products that I have purchased so I may be a little biased. This wiregate carabiner has been an excellent addition to my rack. It’s more than strong enough to handle any load I throw at it. The biner is super lightweight and easily controlled. Nothing is worse than getting into a tight spot and then having difficulty getting your gate open! You will never have that problem with this biner. My only complaint would be the small range of colors available. Overall, I would recommend this carabiner to anyone who needs another piece of strong and lightweight gear on their rack.

I like it, don't love it.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Seems like any other wiregate to me. A bit wider than others I suppose.

Cheap price, low durability

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Besides the fact that they handle and clip very nicely, I am very unimpressed with these. I've used a lot of different biners and these seem to get rope grooved about twice as fast as all the other biners I've used, including other cheaper wiregates. I won't be wasting money on these again.

I second this statement. They went mank sooo fast. .

Relatively cheap, nice action, perfect size and absolutely bomber.

Bomber! Bargain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A comfortable well sized strong and durable binner. Probably it can survive an atomic bomb blast.

Seems it paints ropes less then other modern hot forged binners.

Not as light as BD Oz or DMM Phantom and has a snagging nose. Thus only 4 stars.

At just $7.50 it's a bargain.

Feel lighter. . .

Awesome carabiners. Great size for their weight. I use them on alpine draws because they have a large opening.

    Rack and Roll

Great lightweight biner for racking or sport climbing. Currently using these as racking biners due to their size and weight.
