Keep your hands dry and keep the mess down with the Metolius Chalk Sock.

The Metolius Chalk Sock provides a quick and easy alternative for climbers who don't like loose chalk spilling all over the place when they climb. This item also fits in well at gyms that don't allow loose chalk. The Chalk Sock keeps your hands just as dry as regular chalk, but it won't spill all over the place when you fall.

Refillable, holds chalk - works great!

    Solid Chalk Ball

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had a similar experience with this chalk ball as most other reviews. It is good size and holds a decent amount of chalk but I find that it does not give off as much as I would like. Its fine for bouldering when you are taking a time in between your sends but when on a sport wall I find myself taking more time than I would like to chalk up. Ill probably try out other options for my next chalk ball just to try the other options but this is solid for what it is.

    It gets the job done.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I mean, there's nothing real fancy about it. But, there's nothing wrong with it either. It's a decent chalk bag that gets the job done.

    The highlights:

    - It holds a fair amount of chalk
    - It retains it well, so you're not constantly refilling it
    - It's not too big and clunky, but sizable enough.

I've used this chalk bag on a weekly basis for over a year climbing at the gym. It's had a number of refills, it's been grappled and tossed around, and it's survived this far.

Would I buy it again, sure would.

Not the best bang for your buck

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

As others have been mentioning, it does the job fairly okay but it could give off more chalk. It's nice and condense, keeps the chalk organized not creating a huge cloud of chalk dust. But it covers your hand slightly. Better for when on the floor before you climb because you can play around with it for a while to get enough chalk. On the wall, no time to be playing around!

    does the job

Nice for not making a mess at the gym but I find my self wanting more especially if its hot out.

It's a bit hard to get as much chalk out as I'd like but lucklily I bought the refillable version and can keep some loose chalk or dip in as needed.

Pretty Chalky, but could be Chalkier

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This chalk bag keeps loose chalk from spilling, but also just releases enough to lightly chalk hands. I might add a small amount of loose chalk to my bag.

      Economical Choice

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Metolius Super Chalk Sock is a great economical choice when it comes to chalk balls. The price is low and the quality is up there. The only downside to this sock is that it is too thick. I find myself having to move it around in my hands a lot in order to get a good amount of chalk onto them. I have refilled it once with high quality chalk thinking this may resolve the issue but still no luck. Though for the price, you can’t complain too much. All in all, a good solution at a good price.

      Does what you need!

Great chalk ball. Going forward, I will probably get a refillable version.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's a chalk ball so there isn't a ton to it. I went with the refillable one since I'm not in love with items that are along the lines of single-use. And its easy refill and its not expensive.

      Great price!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

One of the cheaper chalk balls on the site and the quality is great. Keeps my hands dry for climbing and fits perfectly into my Black Diamond chalk bag.

      Great Chalk Sock

      Chalk Sock

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've used this sock a few times at the climbing gym and have no complaints so far for the price. They had me at cheap and refillable. I see why some say it's not enough chalk that comes out, but I think the mesh will loosen up over time and dispense more.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great chalk sock. Sometimes it doesn't release a whole lot of chalk but it's refillable, which is pretty nice.

Okay, but doesn't let out a lot of chalk

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This chalk sock is okay, but I am disappointed with how little chalk is let out when I use it. In order to get an adequate chalk amount on my hands while climbing, I also have to use some loose chalk in my bag with the sock. I wouldn't recommend this sock. If I was given the choice to buy this sock or a more expensive/better quality sock, then I would spend the extra few dollars for the better one.

Not all chalk is created equal

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought one of these for myself and one for my girlfriend and we both hated it. The fabric somehow creates a huge cloud of dust yet none of the chalk sticks to your hands. Plus, the chalk inside the ball was super chunky. My girlfriend ended up just dumping the ball out into her chalk bag.

Bought it bc it was refillable

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wanted a refillable chalk sock, and this guy gets the job done. So far, so good!

      it's a refillable chalk sock

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Leave the top slightly open to get a little more chalk when needed. It's refillable and not to big. I've had mine for awhile with no complaints. It's worth buying a refillable and a bag of chalk.

      Not great but not bad

I found that I can't quite get as much chalk on my hands as I would like with just this sock. I use it with loose chalk too and that seems to work a bit better and be less messy than just loose chalk.

        Does the job

It works, it's inexpensive, and it's refillable. Not much to say other than that.
