If this would be your first pair of the Encore Ice, then you may simply feel like you overpaid for the shoes. If you are looking to replace an older pair of Encore Ice, then you will be beyond disappointed in the decline in quality.
The shoes still run about a half size big in length, average in width. However, where the fleece lining was once plush enough to make up for the sizing issue, this is no longer the case. The lining is...sparse. It does not mat into a nice thick nap. It crushes flat and provides little cushion or warmth. The leather is thinner now, too. My pair were misshapen by their placement in the shoe box and have yet to take a natural shape.
The soles have a comparable tread to an older pair, but are now made of a lightweight 'foam' as opposed to a more rugged rubber. The insoles are still replaceable, but, as with the rest of the fleece lining, the fleece is thin and provides no cushion.
I did not get this new pair of Encore Ice at BC. I paid quite a bit less than full price for these shoes, and I'm glad I did. Had I paid more, I would have immediately sent the shoes back. However, for the price, the cost of a return, and the hassle of a return, I kept them.
I would not buy these again, especially at full price, and I can't recommend these shoes.
