Easy, tasty

This is easy, hardy backpacking or camping food. Happy with the flavor and the ease of cooking.

YUMMM!

This backpacking dinner was perfect for a recent overnight trip. All you need to add is a little hot water and let it sit for about 10 minutes. It was delicious, very filling and probably could have even been shared between two people.

mmmmmm.... burrito mix.

Mary Jane Farms makes some of my favorite backpacking meals. This one pairs awesome with some veggies and tortillas for a super filling meal.

I was surprised to find it was just mush once fully cooked but It was so tasty! It doesn't look appetizing but the flavor is great I enjoyed it with tortilla chips and an avocado on my last car camping trip to the PNW.

Tasty

Spent a week in the Wind Rivers skiing. Primarily packed in a mix of Mary Jane, Mountain House and Good 2 Go food. The Mary Jane meals are well done. This black beans & rice option was a very tasty one. Good protein and simple to cook, eat and dispose of.

Why Wait?

I was super lazy and didn't get groceries so I ate this. It was tasty.

Let me just start out by saying I've been a hold out to the prepackaged backpacking meal scene. I've done a lot of backpacking both for work and pleasure and have never touched these things (mostly because they weren't available where I worked and I was being snobbish). Well I gave them a try and I have to admit they are quite tasty. I love how easy they are to use and clean. Count me as a convert. My buddy had the mountain house rice and chicken meal. We ended up combining them after trying our respective meals. The beans was definitely delicous as a stand-alone burrito option. But the beans paired with the mountain house chicken and rice was also tasty.

    Great backpacking food

Good flavor and very filling. Next time I'll bring some tortillas and I'm guessing this will become a staple in my backpack.

      My favorite dish. great protein.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Just add some hot sauce and tortillas and you are set. I eat this every three days in the backcountry. Mary Jane Farms is the best. Organic and compostable packing. I buy all my food from Backcountry.com. I eat only MJF and Mountain House. Attached is a photo of my food for a 20 day trek. mostly Mary Jane Farms!

      My favorite dish. great protein.

I put some in a tortilla, sprinkled a little queso and hot sauce. Well seasoned, filling and simple.
