Strollbridge Down Jacket

Walking the city streets in the dead of winter has its pros and cons. The air is crisp and clear and you can always see the top of the skyscrapers, but you also have to deal with the bone-chilling cold that can freeze you from head to toe. Prevent freezing your knees off with Marmot's Strollbridge Down Jacket. This coat is lined with fleece and stuffed with down so that you can be your warmest, but still enjoy the city lights at night, the ice skating rink in the park, and waiting for the bus home. With hand-warming pockets, you can count on feeling your fingers during the entire adventure. And you can stash you keys, wallet, and phone in the Strollbridge's inner chest pocket for safekeeping. You can bank on being city stylish with the faux fur buff on this coat's hood, and you can bank on being cozy warm with the baffled, longer fit.

  • A longer down coat for casual wear in cold weather
  • Hand warming pockets keep fingers warm
  • Internal zippered pocket for stashing small things
  • Removable faux fur buff on removable baffled hood
  • Tapered waist for warmer fit

Beautiful but not designed for cold

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

This coat is beautiful and fit perfect but, I am from Alaska and was looking for a coat that would keep me warm. There is no down in much of the coat so it feels like two layers of material - that is it. I had hoped by going with this brand and paying this price, I would receive a jacket that would withstand winter temps - meaning below zero. Unfortunately, I am sending it back.

Nice coat- collar not adjustable-

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

I love marmot coats. I own the Montreal which is amazing in very cold weather. The strollbridge lacks some of the features I like so much about the other coat. I find the collar stiff under the chin without fleece. The collar could also use a cord to tighten it. The sleeves could be a bit tighter at the cuffs. I ordered a L because that is what I got for the Montreal to be able to wear with more layers. In this case, the large is way too baggy. I measure 5-4 1/2 " and 125lbs. The zipper on this one seems fine. With marmot it depends on individual coats. I have tried many marmots and some zippers of the same style work while others don't.

too narrow

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XL

I love this jacket...the color, the way it feels, the closure, but it is too narrow for me, so it is being returned.

Nice coat, not tall enough

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

I'm a 6'2" female so clothes shopping is forever a challenge. Marmot has been one of the brands that has long enough sleeves (I own 3 jackets already) This jacket was a close contender (longest sleeves of the Montreaux and Montreal), but I went with another brand for this winter.

Pros: LOVE the magnetic flap over zipper!!! nice slim fit, long-ish sleeves, felt warm, solid, good quality, two-way zipper, loved the color: black, very stylish

Cons: too short (for my needs), skimpy hood, two-way zipper v. hard to start.

I would've kept it IF it had 1" longer sleeves, larger hood (hate the fur) and was several inches longer (it didn't cover my butt sitting down) or came in a TALL size?

Sorry to return :( Again, that magnetic flap is brilliant!

Nice coat, not tall enough

Perfect Stylish Coat!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

Initially, I was trying to decide between this coat and the Montreaux coat from Marmot. I was leaning towards the longer Montreaux simply because it looked “puffier” and I wasn’t sure if this coat would be long enough. HOWEVER, I am so so sooo glad I went with the Strollbridge! My height was the determining factor— I was worried with a longer coat I would look like I was 4 ft tall (especially if I wore knee height boots). This coat hits right about mid thigh which is just what I wanted! Not to mention the fitted waist area is very slimming and not your standard puffy coat. I am able to wear a medium layer underneath if needed. One super nice extra Marmot added is the magnetic zipper cover (instead of your typical noisy Velcro or snap buttons). Now about the zipper... I can totally see where people become frustrated with it. BUT! Fear not. The reviewer that mentioned that the left side needs to be FULLY inserted into both clasps and that you will hear an audible “click” saved my butt from returning the coat. It takes some fiddling with, but will get easier with time. I love this coat! As always, backcountry exceeds my expectations with shipping. I placed my order at 7:50 pm last night and got the coat today at 12.

Surprisingly Warm!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I love this coat! I need a new water-resistant winter coat that was long enough to cover my butt, and this was the perfect choice. I'm pretty pear shaped, but this doesn't make me look big at all. I live in Minnesota so it gets preeeetty cold around here and this has been very warm in the winters. It seems thinner than my previous long puffy jacket, but it's so warm despite the lack of thickness it has. It has large zippered pockets which I love and can hold everything I need so sometimes I don't need a purse. I also like that the fur on the hood is removable.
A lot of reviews mentioned that the zipper is annoying and sometimes doesn't zip, and I thought the same thing initially. It was super annoying, but now that I've gotten the hang of it, it's super easy to glide all the way up.

Cozy coat

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this coat for my mom. She loves it and thinks it is very comfortable. Her only complaint is that it can by tricky to zip up.

Great stylish coat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This coat looks great, fits well and is plenty warm. Grape color is beautiful. The hood is not too big and doesn't obstruct my vision when worn over a hat. Regarding zipper issues that a lot of people are complaining about: I was concerned about it too, but the zipper is not faulty, it's just a little tricky. Once you figure it out, it works perfectly well. The trick is to insert left side zipper fully and firmly into the lock and hear a little "click" as it locks into place. Then it zips effortlessly and instantly, every time. It took me couple of days to learn this, but now I don't have any problems. Love this coat!!

Poor Zipper

I agree with other reviews that the zipper is an issue. This is pretty ridiculous for a $300 coat.

    2nd time is a charm!

Was looking for a winter jacket and I originally ordered a north face only to return it because of a poor fit. This jacket had been on my shopping cart as well, so when the north face did not work out I quickly ordered this coat from marmot! Needless to say I was not disappointed. Super light. Feels really warm. The cuffs have a fleece lining, as do the pockets. The pockets also have zippers! Great length on me and I can’t wait to try this out tomorrow in Philly winter weather. Don’t think about it. Just buy this coat!

    Best coat ever!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

I can see where body shape could come into play with the fit, but for me this coat is just perfect! I am 5'11" so it's hard to find coats that are long enough in the body and sleeve and not make me look like the Michelin man, and the fitted waist reduces the bulky appearance that many down coats have. This coat is lightweight and warm! I feel like it was made just for me and I love the mallard green color. Marmot coats are made with such high quality. They may cost more, but with a lifetime warranty I think they are worth every penny!

    Love this coat!

I ordered 2 coats from Backcountry so I could choose between the two. Also ordered one from another site. This Marmot coat is beautiful, fits perfectly, has a soft interior and cuffs and I love the color. It was by far the superior of the 3 coats I tried. Got s great price on Backcountry and free shipping!

    Cute coat

Size was good color was so pretty love the magnets the fur around the hood. Delivery and customer service very helpful and the price was a plus. I have seen in some reviews about the zipper being an issue but you can rub a bar of soap and it shouldn’t snag. I will be using this website in the future and recommend them to all my friends!!

      Great style; poor zipper

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium

I loved the style and fit of this coat. It did not seem like it would be quite as warm as my current North Face. I returned it because the zipper was incredibly hard to zip. About half the time I tried I could not zip it at all.

Hey Heather, Thanks for writing this review. I know you're not the only one with the problem with these zippers!

Very Warm and Pretty in Arctic Chill now

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small

I researched and tried on 10 coats from 5 brands and this was the keeper.
PROS: Love the plum color (very unique), the optional hood & fur (both of which fits without falling onto my face), 1 inner & deep outer pockets, slim fit & flattering pattern, fleece cuffs, wind resistant. CON: Have to take time to line up the zipper exactly before it will pull up which makes me a bit nervous.

      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
