Spire Jacket

If you're looking for an all-around shell for a winter of daring escapades, don't overlook the clean, lightweight design of the Marmot Women's Spire Jacket. This sleek shell's low weight doesn't hinder the weather protection from a three-layer Gore-Tex membrane and fully taped seams. Wear it for a long day on the skintrack or for a stormy weekend exploring a new resort and you'll stay protected and dry without overheating. Marmot understands the challenges of being active in the cold, which is why the helmet-compatible hood is also fully adjustable to keep precipitation, wind, or sun at bay. Because not every weekend will call for storm-day preparation, the Spire also comes with underarm vents and a zip-off powder skirt to equip it for sunny spring conditions.

The hand pockets are carefully organized to sit above a pack belt or harness and are water resistant to keep your belongings protected. The jacket’s athletic fit comfortably accommodates layers underneath remaining low-profile to enhance mobility for a technical bootpack.

Great shell Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent waterproof and windproof jacket. A little stiff though. Worked well for spring skiing. Only 3 outside pockets. I like the feminine fit, so I dont look like a box.

Limited sizing

Seems like a great jacket and I loved the color; unfortunately the sizing is really limited and it fits snugly for a shell. The need for plus and petite sizing exists in all snow clothing, including the more technical and high end gear. Would consider again if expanded sizing was available.

Great design! Flattering but not too tight

I really like this jacket. It’s flattering without being too tight, can still fit a fleece and puffy underneath without restriction. I sometimes have issues with the main zipper but overall very functional jacket. Have only used at mellow backcountry and at the resort so far, but I’m hopeful it will be a great jacket for some upcoming ski mountaineering expeditions soon. LOVE the pocket design.

Best Shell Ever!!!!!

I bought this jacket for resort skiing, the first time I used this jacket there was a huge storm the gave around 5 feet of powder, this jacket was absolutely perfect and kept me 100% dry, the gortex pockets kept all my belongings dry too, the coat was not heavy whatsoever, and allowed me to layer perfectly underneath for the varying temperatures, the jacket is completely wind proof which keeps you warm as well which is great considering it is a shell, the quality is fantastic, overall I recommend this jacket too everyone and all snow conditions and temperatures. I am 5'7 and 115 lbs, I ordered a medium and a small, the small was more form fitting than the medium, but the medium allowed for more layers underneath, both sleeve lengths were perfect and the coats length went a the perfect amount over my ski pants.

Awesome Ski Jacket!

I have had this jacket for a few years now! It is my only ski jacket & I ski 30+ days/year in all the weather that the Pacific Northwest can dish up: wet sloppy weather all the way to stormy cold weather. Since it is a shell, I can wear whatever layers I want under it so that I can wear it in warm or cold temps. It is VERY waterproof & windproof and has a flattering fit as well. It has a powder skirt and pit zips which were important to me. I wish it had a clip for keys in the breast pocket; I ended up sewing one in on my own. I also have had the Spire ski pants for years, which are equally incredible.

Not the best zippers

Love this jacket, a few technical glitches though. The main zipper is especially stiff and difficult to zip up, typically takes a good effort to zip it, then it’ll get caught. A pretty annoying start to every single day when you’re putting it on. And water seems to absorb into the jacket easily. Not that you get wet, but you just look like you’ve stood under a water fall after only being outside for not that long on a snowy day. I do love the size of the pockets on both sides, and it fits very well.
