Prepare for the worst.

Don't let a hatefully cold day keep you from hitting the slopes. Zip up the Marmot Shadow Men's Jacket and enjoy a technical design capable of crushing frigid lift rides at your local resort to high-altitude romps in far-away lands. Marmot's MemBrain waterproof breathable laminate and the Shadow's 700-fill down insulation combine to keep you dry and warm without causing sweat to turn your layers soggy, and the zippered underarm vents also make sure you stay comfortable if the sun makes an unexpected appearance.

To facilitate the more technical sections of your bootpacks and alpine climbs, Marmot added Angel-Wing movement, so the act of lifting your arms over your head to reach for a handhold or celebrate a sick line won't make the whole jacket ride up. A zip-off hood and powder skirt keep your brain warm and functional and your pants free from snow, respectively, and the Guardian nylon reinforcements at the shoulders and sleeves provide extra water protection won't get shredded when you're mobbing through tight trees.

The “Almost Perfect” winter jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Living in Pittsburgh, I am no stranger to cold winters and I’ve been looking for a solid everyday coat for the past few years. Enter the Shadow Jacket. Overall, this is an incredibly well constructed and designed coat. The 700 fill down is very warm and the pockets are plenty. As for fit, I’m a standard medium in just about everything I wear (5.10, 175lbs). The fit through the torso and arms is great, but the armpits and shoulders are tight. After reading other reviews, this does seem to be a common complaint. I particularly notice this shortcoming when I’m driving. Outside of that, I have enough extra space to wear a hoodie or base layer without any issue. If you’re looking for a great everyday winter coat that looks good on the street and the slopes, this is the jacket for you.

Warm and fashionable

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought the black one for my boyfriend and it keeps him warm. It's a really plush, soft coat. The only thing is the way the coat is quilted it looks like part is black, part is a dark urban navy color. I would rather it be the same color throughout.

Marmot Shadow Jacket - Men's

Bought this jacket for Alta Ski trip. Temp was cold but jacket kept me very warm. Would recommend. Fits great and true to size. Plenty of pockets and has underarm zipper vents. Great buy, love this jacket.

    Great insulation, great features

Bought this after a few single digit days in VT that had me searching for a warmer ski jacket. This fits an interesting niche as most down or heavily insulated jackets lack technical features and I wanted to use this for cold days, pow days, lots of days. It's beefy, but it doesn't feel like it weighs on you. Has good articulation in the arms and has become a 'must-take' ski jacket if I know it's going to be south of 20 degrees. It's an insulated jacket so set your expectations for breathability accordingly, if you work up a sweat it can get a little steamy so plan to unzip as you heat up.

    Not happy 🙁

I am a huge Marmot fan and was excited about receiving this jacket. However, upon wearing it on a cold NYC night I have to state here for the record that I was not warm! And the Velcro on the cuffs are a major headache so I don't like this jacket at all because the Velcro on the cuffs is not secured and the jacket isn't warm!!! I will purchase the Marmot Hooded Guides Down next time

    Marmot = Quality

The Marmot Shadow jacket is a great down jacket for the coldest winter days. The down is warm and full but not bulky, no Michelin Man look here. I bust this down jacket out for the coldest days when I know I may get stuck on the lift with the wind chill at -10. Great buy I love this jacket.

      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around the thickest part of your neck, holding tape loosely.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
