Athletic fit and lots of compliments

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this in a bright color (yellow amber) for backpacking since every other thing I have is black and blue. So far it’s been very waterproof and comfortable, the pockets line up right above the lumbar straps of a pack. I am not worried at all of the waterproofing due to Marmot’s warranty.

Exactly what I wanted

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is great. The hand pockets are deep, so things won't fall out easily if left open. The chest pocket is plenty big for my smartphone (which isn't small). I noticed some reviews say that the chest pocket isn't big enough for a small smartphone, so maybe Marmot changed the size of it on their newer jackets. The jacket only weighs 13.7 ounces, so it's light enough for backpacking, and there is a draw-cord on the bottom hem to keep out wind and rain etc.. the hood only has the one draw-cord on the back, but it is more than sufficient for being able to see peripherially and the bill on top doesn't hang down in your face. This is exactly what I needed for backpacking and camping. The jacket will fit some layers underneath, but I wouldn't say that the jacket runs small at all like some have said... Great buy!! I love that it is gore-tex too!! Marmot always impresses with their quality and workmanship of their products.

Beautiful Jacket

This jacket is beautiful and very light weight. I just wish the collar was removable.

Never Leave Home Without it Jacket!

Super light weight jacket to always pack because it takes up limited space and is ultra light and provides adequate weather protection. I use it for ski touring and summer flyfishing trips in Colorado-we often get afternoon thunderstorms. Bottom line, never leave home with out it in your pack!

Not a bad jacket, expensive though; get a Precip

It's a good jacket, and if you really need the Gortex and high-end water protection, maybe it would be worth the extra cost for you. For me, I would suggest getting a Precip, which is way cheaper, and very close to the same product in my opinion.

Good outer shell during moderate aerobic stuff

I use this as for day hikes in wet cold conditions down to 25deg. Keeps me dry and comfortably warm. Have not been in downpours. I use a windproof fleece vest as a mid layer. The pit zippers are really important to help regulate body temp while still having wind protection. The jacket has worked well for me but, a dozen outings is too little to evaluate endurance -and I have not used the hood yet.

Fits tall and skinny

Fits well. My son is tall and very thin and hard to find jackets to fit. Got him a M and it is not too wide. Sleeves are nice and long

Great lightweight not good for heavy rain

Love the jacket for a light drizzle or a short walk in the rain anymore and it’s not worth it. It’s definitely waterproof to a point then it just fails. I was out riding my mountain bike and I bring it as an emergency and as you can expect it started to rain and I got soaked to the bone all the way through the jacket unfortunately I can’t return it otherwise I would the product itself is good good features lightweight good for light walking or running in rain light rain specifically but any heavy rain and you’ll be soaking wet.

Like my raincoat…

I’m 5’10” and about 215. My XL is a good fit but a tad tight over a polarfleece and t-shirt. . Sleeves a bit long. Very water tight.

Best Warranty Service

Big heads up the Marmot warranty. I recently sent back a Knife Edge jacket for repair. One of the pockets had let go and the zipper was getting difficult to use. Not only did it only take a few days to get a response but they totally replaced the whole jacket for a new one. The new one is awesome! Wicks water off like water off the back of a duck and the new zipper style works easily. Thank you so much Marmot Warranty Dept.
