From spring climbing on Mount Rainier to bagging a summer ascent of the Grand, Marmot's Eiger 42 Backpack is ideal for multi-day mountaineering missions and technical alpine ascents. A durable, yet lightweight design puts Pertex Dyneema fabric throughout majority of the pack for exceptional abrasion resistance, which work with reinforced areas of 210D nylon for added burliness For support, Marmot went with a removable aluminum stay and PE frame sheet, then added a molded back panel for added comfort during those early alpine starts.

In terms of access, the Eiger has a roll-top closure for added protection from spindrift, if you decide to remove the top lid to save weight—the hip belt and sternum strap can also be removed when wearing the pack with a harness. Marmot added reinforced haul loops to the Eiger and put multiple clipping points for gear along the pack with reflective tape for added visibility during still-dark starts. The side compression straps can be used to cinch the load of the pack down tight, but are also reinforced to protect against ski edges as they can be used to carry skis in an A-frame. The reinforced and locking ice tool loops make the pack a solid choice for ice climbing and standard mountaineering endeavors, while the dual stretch side pockets can be used to stash additional gear or water bottles.
