Doesn’t keep you dry

Didn’t keep me dry at all in rain. Maybe better as a windbreaker.

    Longer length perfection

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

LOVE this jacket! The longer length, the waterproof fabric, the versatile color options (not too sporty)--perfect for travel, commuting, hitting the trails with my dog. Perfection!

    Great commuter coat

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I got this for my sister in law as a gift. She commutes to work on the train in San Fran and she loves it. The cut is flattering and the coat is really functional. It is great in a downpour, packable and also comfortable. The best thing about it is it's long so it protects more real estate but also easy to maneuver in because of the back cutout. She can't say enough good things about it and wears it everyday.

    Functional and Stylish!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I got this as a birthday present for my mom. She looks very chic and stylish in it. The gray has a cool, iridescent look. Repeals rain; attracts compliments. (Seriously - she says she always gets compliments when she wears it!)

    Got it for my mama.

AND SHE LOVES IT. It feels like every time I FaceTime her lately, she's wearing this. She's on the east coast where the weather is getting testy and it's been chilly and raining a lot ... needless to say, she's loving this jacket.

      My favorite casual rain jacket

What a cute jacket this is! I'm pretty small at 5'2 and 100 lbs so I was so happy to find a rain jacket that complimented my body type! The arms are narrow but wide enough to wear a hoodie under it. It has a cinch at the high waist to give you a nice figure so you don't look like you are wearing a bag!

My favorite thing about this jacket would have to be the way the fabric was treated. It was dyed and DWR treated before the jacket was created so it won't fade from the sun and it should always stay water resistant!

I would order your typical size!

        My favorite casual rain jacket

Perfect for a rainy camp day!!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small

I have been using the same rain jacket for a couple years so it was time for an upgrade. One of my favorite things about the Celeste is the length. I have been hesitant before when purchasing a longer rain jacket because some look "boxy" and give your body a rectangle figure. That's totally not then case for this jacket!! The draw chords around the middle of your waist can be tightened to give you a nice little shape!!

I took this jacket with me on a weekend trip to Redmans campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon about a week ago and it was AWESOME!! It only sprinkled while we were there and it being the middle of summer, the outside temp was too hot for long pants. This jacket was super nice to have because sitting in a wet camp chair, it was long enough so that when I sat down, my butt didn't get wet! I love this jacket and will probably wear it to death!!

The NEW evodry technology is amazing and I highly recommend getting YOUR next rain jacket with it!

Oh, and a small fit me perfectly! In sleeve length and chest area, it wasn't too tight but had some wiggle room!

        Around Town Perfection

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small

Marmot has started a great initiative and used it to make this wonderful garment. Their new EvoDry treatment saves 80% of the water consumption it traditionally took to create DWR products. As an eco conscious person this really speaks to me!
This new waterproofing technology equals the competitors on the market, so you can strut the streets in style and keep your digs nice and dry. The fabric is pleasant to the touch, and does not feel like "plastic" it actually has a textured surface. The inside is not lined so wearing it against the skin is not recommended.
It fits as pictured! so it extends to the thigh, and has a high to low seam making it pretty stylish. It allows enough room to layer a thermal piece underneath in cooler weather. I wear a small and i purchased a small. It fits super well.

this is a great new addition to my wardrobe, and i no longer have to wear my backpacking rain jacket that looks like a technical piece around town or into the office. i recommend this to anyone!

        Stylish Technical Quality Rain Jacket

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Marmot Celeste is a very flattering, stylish and feature-rich rain jacket that is great for professional ladies who want to stay as dry as they would with a technical rain jacket. It is also a great travel rain jacket!

It has several unique features that really set it apart from other similar jackets. First of all, the membrane is Marmot's new proprietary Membrain Eco, which is 100% recycled and still performs just as well as any Gore-tex jacket I've worn. It is breathable and absolutely waterproof. I wore it when I went out to dinner with my husband on one night and a crazy storm blew through with insane winds and torrential rain and I stayed completely dry and didn't feel a thing. Additionally, the outer fabric of the jacket has a soft touch and feels really nice, not really crinkly like a typical rain jacket. I was really impressed with the cut of the Celeste, as well. It is very flattering, due to the adjustable waist. I found it to be true to size with a little bit of extra room, so if you are wearing a business suit or heavy sweater, you can still fit in it, but if you are wearing a dress you can adjust the waist for a more tapered and flattering look. The bottom of the back has a slit in it so there is no restriction when sitting down. The full-coverage stowable hood is another feature that I think really makes this jacket versatile. It also has three zippered pockets (two exterior hand pockets and one interior chest pocket big enough to fit almost any smartphone).

I highly recommend this jacket if you are looking for a performance outdoors jacket with all the features you need, but is classy enough to wear to work, in the city, or on your travel adventures.

The Cinder grey color is lighter than the photo above entails, it's a heather-grey which I really like!

I love this longer, duck-tail style rain coat. I'm a tall lady and this more than covers my bum area. Hood has good coverage and the sleek stow-away compartment in the collar area is designed intuitively. Internal drawstrings and cell phone pocket is wonderful. Bring it on Rainy season!

        Cute & Functional

        Well Hello Little Waist

Let me start off by saying I do not have hips and I have large shoulders so from a distance I could be confused for a boy. It is really hard for me to find jackets I like, especially jackets that actually compliment my body shape.

I've NEVER owned a long jacket before this but now I wonder how wrong I've been living my life. The waist draws in at the perfect height for me, right on my waist to give a flattering shape to my figure.
The hem does not bell out but it does look like I've got hips. The membrane on this fabric is really awesome. Most jackets have a water resistant treatmenet sprayed on them but the way they apply the DWR in this jacket keeps it water resistant for life! The way the fabric was actually died as well required less water so it is a pretty sustainable jacket!
If you have more questions about or have no idea what I'm talking about feel free to reach out to me for more information on the fit, fabric or use!
I use this causally as a rain jacket, it could work in the PNW for longer walks as well. I cannot wait to sit on a park bench and not question my butt getting wet!

        I'm Flattered

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size

Sleek and stylish meets functional. Feminine accents like a cinch waist, split droptail hem, and stowable hood make this great for getting around town or traveling abroad. My old rain coat was bulky and hard to fold up, making it difficult to pack for travel. This is a great balance of weight and features.

POCKETS! The jacket has two spacious zippered hand pockets on the outside, as well as a smaller zippered media pocket on the inside. This could easily fit a large smartphone and a set of keys or other small items.
Fit is true to size, and as mentioned the waist can be cinched to create a more flattering silhouette. The cinch mechanism had two slots to adjust and lock in the draw cord, so you can adjust based on layers. I love the length of this jacket as it is thigh length and provides more protection from moisture.

Neat facts from Marmot - Made with Marmot membrain eco waterproof/breathable fabric, this jacket is waterproof and breathable. Marmot makes materials for the EVODry collection using processes that reduce environmental impact without compromising fabric functionality

        Perfect for your urban jungle

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size

I am so excited about this jacket! I would consider this more of an urban wear kind of jacket, but I would still take it out on a mellow hike with me. I haven't gotten to test this out in a down pour yet, so I improvised. I got sprayed with a hose, it kept me dry and comfortable. It breathed really well, I could feel the coolness of the water running down the outside, but didn't feel stuffed and claustrophobic inside the jacket. Another interesting feature they added is a zipper to slip you're hood into. That way if it stops raining and you don't want the hood, you can tuck it in and zip it up. On the fit of this jacket, it fits true to size. The only thing I noticed is that it goes up into the armpits just a smidge. Not enough to create a problem, but maybe worth considering if you're in between sizes.

Marmot did a great job on this jacket. It's a 100% recycled BREATHABLE waterproof jacket. This jacket has Marmots new carbon free DWR treatment. It is kinder to the environment and it still keeps you completely dry for as long as you own the jacket. So no need to reapply the DWR. Finding a decent waterproof jacket isn't the most difficult task, but finding one that is friendly to the environment, keeps you dry, and looks really nice is a different story. If you want something to wear that will keep you dry on those rainy days as well as helping you be more friendly to the environment, this is a good choice. I'm stoked to wear it because I know that Marmot put a lot of care into making something that you could feel good wearing. I was very impressed with the amount of breathability that it offered. I wasn't sure at first that it would breath very well. When you first feel it, it doesn't seem like it would breath as well as it does. If you're wearing this jacket in the urban jungle, you can be sure you will stay completely dry and comfortable if Mother Nature decides to make it rain.

I got this jacket a few weeks ago and have only had the chance to wear it once, but so far I'm very impressed with it. I got it in black so that it would match all my outfits when I'm traveling. The Eco material is soft and supple, meaning this jacket is not as annoyingly crinkly as a lot of other rain shells are. The backing is also soft to the touch, and the breathability of the jacket means it won't stick to your skin if you're wearing it over a tank top or t-shirt.

My personal favorite features of this jacket are the flattering cut and the stow-away hood. I love the look of a trenchcoat without a hood, but when it's really rainy, it's definitely nice to be able to pull one out and throw it on. Plus, the hood on this jacket is the PERFECT size! Not too big, not too tight...just awesome. The long line silhouette is super cute, and the waist cinch adds a touch of class.

Overall, I really like this jacket and expect to use it a lot when traveling and during shoulder seasons. I can't quite speak to the waterproofing yet (it was only sprinkling when I tried it out), but if it's anything like the Marmot shells I've had previously, it should hold up perfectly. If you're looking for style and function in one versatile piece, this jacket is definitely one to check out!

Sizing note: I'm normally a size 2-4 and the Small fits perfectly!

        Great Travel Piece

I got this jacket a month ago and have only used it once hiking in the rain but I want to share my initial impressions.

This is a piece I added to my closet more for travel than for hiking but when the forecast was rainy all of last weekend I thought it'd be a good time to try it out. I wore it for probably 3 out of 8 miles of our hike that had considerable elevation gain and didn't find myself "sweating it out". The fabric was super breathable and I think the drop tail was ideal for using it for hiking because it gives you such range of motion. The zipper is a two-way zipper so that was really nice as well to unzip when the rain let up for short spirts. We don't have it now but I got the purple color and it's really subtle/subdued which makes it an awesome traveling piece.

In my ideal world, I would bring this on a tour of Ireland or Scotland because it can be worn when it's just brisk out and then you can unroll the hood and zip up when the rain comes. In general a great travel piece because it's soft, supple, and easily packed down into a bag.

One feature I'd like to call out is the media pocket! It's so great Marmot thought to put it at the hip instead of the boob so you don't have a weird shape in all of your rainy tourist photos.

I am 5'6" and typically wear a small to medium jacket. I ordered a small in this jacket and it fits great.

        For City, Travel and Trails

A light rain jacket with stowable hood and dropped tail that works for both city and packing in your backpack or suitcase.

          For City, Travel and Trails

          More packable than expected.

I chose this particular jacket because of the fabrics and waterproof technology that they use in their Eco line. I learned that it's more sustainable than other waterproofing methods, and reduces water waste. The fabrics in the jacket are also upcycled. So, I was definitely sold on it, just based on the nature of its production.

It's also supposed to resist facing from the sun, and won't ever need to be retreated. I hope that is the case, as it's new to me, so I won't know for some time. It definitely repels water right out of the gate, though.

I did like the breathability too, which I wasn't expecting. It was a humid and muggy day with intermittent rain; a typical rainy summer day. But, it didn't feel bad with the jacket next to my skin. So, I'm really impressed with that aspect of the piece.

I took this backpacking, even though I got it for around town. It actually packed a lot better than I expected. It did wrinkle, but then straighten up almost immediately. So, I would definitely take this traveling, in my carry on or suitcase.

I would also take this backpacking again, if I knew there would be a lot of rain. It has the drop seat in the back, so the covered is awesome and sitting in the rain would.

The hood stows away, so it will make for a nice everyday jacket. I like the high collar. I also like the drawstring waist. It definitely gives you the option to add a little more style, when the occasion calls for it.

I am a typically a medium. I think this is quite nice on me in the medium and has some room for a sweater, on colder days.

          How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
