Alpinist 9 Binding

Marker's Alpinist 9 Binding is an ultralight clamp that won't weight you down on your longest, steepest approaches, yet will also provide reliable performance when it's time to strip skins and rip your line. With lower release values than its bigger sibling, the Alpinist 12, this binding is perfect for lighter-weight backcountry aficionados.

Three heel riser heights deliver comfort and efficiency on the steep skintracks and flat slogs alike, and are easy to shift for fast angle changes. The lightweight performance and uphill-oriented nature doesn't dim the Alpinist's dependability on the steeps, though. It sports an adjustable 4-9 release value for a consistent release when you need it, while the carbon-reinforced toe piece maintains the binding's stiffness for a smooth, responsive power transmission. Marker made sure that the heel piece adapts to the flex of your ski, which further improves the release consistency and makes a better connection between the binding and your ski.

This incredibly lightweight package is surprisingly filled with features that will enhance your experience in the backcountry without adding excess weight. The Alpinist has a visual step-in aid to guide your toe to the right spot between the pins, and anti-ice pads prevent ice from building up in the toe and heel piece so you don't have to constantly clear them out before trying to step in. And, just in case you decide to pick up a new pair of boots mid-season, the Alpinist sports 15 millimeters of adjustability to accommodate different boot sole lengths.
