MandukaPro Yoga Mat

The luxury sedan of yoga mats.

With its dense, thick form, ahead-of-the pack comfort and cushioning, and non-slip finish, the Manduka Pro Yoga Mat is like a luxury sedan driving 100mph on the highway. Smooth, baby, smooth. However, you are moving nowhere except deeper into your practice. The closed-cell surface helps to keep moisture and sweat out, so your mat isn't a breeding ground for bacteria. And the dot-pattern bottom resists sliding to round out the luxurious features of this perfect rectangle.

Super grippy and supportive

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Best mat ever!!! It's super supportive on your joints and has helped me a ton with poses that put pressure on the knees. I previously would have to layer two matts or fold over a corner to support my knees but this has been a total game changer. I definitely recommend this product!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I challenge you to damage this mat, very sturdy, the only thing is that it is heavy, maybe it is not a great idea for traveling but it is really well built

Great Product

Solid Yoga mat, but i was a little surprised by how heavy it was.

Very well built Yoga Mat

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this one because I wanted to get something more professional (yet I'm just starting practicing Yoga), something more durable and something more gentle on my knees and hands. I looked around and this one seemed to thick all the marks!
Indeed, it looks very well built and seems that it's going to hold strong for a long time. It has the right amount of cushioning and because it has a closed-cell surface, water & sweat are not going to filter in, which helps a lot for keeping smelly odors away.
When I'm practicing Yoga, I tend to sweat like a pig and my previous mat wasn't grippy enough, so I read that this mat was very good at handling sweat. My experience with this mat regarding its slip-resistant feature has not been a good one, -yet. I know that this mat needs a break-in period which I am yet to apply upon it. In the meantime, I sometimes use the Manduka eQua Mat towel to wick away the excess of sweat, pretty nice.

This is my second Pro. As my practice has developed, the length of my stance has gotten longer. I was getting tired of having to adjust my placement on the mat with the regular length. I'd find myself right at the edge.

I thought I'd give a long mat a try. I love it. It's super long though. I'm 6'2. the long mat would be unnecessary for anyone who is my height or shorter unless you have long legs and a long warrior stance.

Great mat for Yoga. Thick and well made.

    Pro Quality

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This mat is the cream of the crop, the most versatile and longest lasting out of any others i have tried. It has a non slip surface which can be used in room temperature classes, or in outdoor environments. With the purchase of a Manduka yoga towel this mat is ideal in hot classes as well. This mat is equipped with a textured bottom also which helps to keep it in one place during a vinyasa flow.
The pro differs from other mats with its thickness, and stiff rubber. Each of these features help to not only protect your joints while practicing, but aid to the longevity of life for the mat. There are different width and length options available. For advanced yogies the long or extra long options are ideal so that you can extend to your edge and hold it there.

    I recommend this mat

    A return to center

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love bikes and can only think of this mat as the Pinarello F10 of yoga mats. Super premium - A pure centerpiece for your practice to come to life. I feel comfortable and fully supported during my practice. I know it's expensive but I've used a few different mats in my day and always thought about this one . Happy I finally got one.

    Full Lotus.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This thing is the Full Lotus Pose of yoga mats. If you're a serious practitioner looking for a lifetime investment, the Manduka Pro mat is for you. It's thick, heavy, sturdy, and stable for balance-intensive floor series, yet provides ample cushion for joints without a squishy, marshmallow-y feel (cough, Jade mats). Just like your bod when you start a daily Ashtanga practice, the mat definitely needs a break-in period. After a week or two of practice, the Pro develops its signature stickiness and loses nearly all traces of rubbery odor typical of yoga mats. I've spent 1000+ hours on my Pro, and there are virtually no signs of wear whatsoever. I don't find it necessary to use a towel for my power vinyasa and general Hatha practice, but if you're a Bikram devotee/hot yoga fiend, pair it with the Manduka towel to prevent your down-dogs from becoming obtuse. Also, don't hesitate to spring for the extra long mat if you're over 5'10'!

    Wedding Zen

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My husband and I used these mats for a group yoga session the morning of our wedding and they were just perfect! No slip, lots of cushion and I loved having the variety of colors. Our guests loved the practice and the mats.

    Good and Heavy

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have two Manduka pro Mats and they stand the test of time. I have had one for over 7 years, and it is still in mint condition even after daily practice. My only complaint is that this sucker is heavy. This is not a travel friendly mat. Keep this for your home/studio practice. For going on retreats, traveling, or even attaching it to your back to get to class I would go with the Pro Lite.

The best mat I've ever tried

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought it as a gift for my sister, She just love it. She says that It is a more supportive mat, it provides good cushioning for her hands during arm balances without being squishy.

    I love this Mat

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought my girlfriend the prolite mat and I tried hers and fell in love with it. I ended up buying the Pro instead of the pro lite since I mainly use it in studios or at home. This mat is amazing, the build quality is gorgeous it is definitely built to last. I decided to skip the break in process they suggest using I wanted to break it in the old fashioned way with just practice practice and more practice. The mat started a tiny bit slippery but not bad completely manageable the more I use it the stickier it seems to be it is a wonderful mat and I'm excited to use it for years and years of practice.

I bought this for my sister-in-law to use at her work, (she got tired of using the ones that were provided.) She loves it and is very excited to not have to use the ones that are provided!

      Best mat

This is solid mat and the best mat I have ever used. Its firm and needs to be broken in. But the firmness also helps it to not slip and give you sturdy postures. Its durable and high quality. Definitely my favorite mat.

        Start with a Solid Foundation

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Size Bought: Standard

This mat is my favorite! It creates the perfect platform for your practice. It's very firm giving you a solid foundation for balancing postures.

If you have a sweaty practice, I recommend the Manduka Equa mat towels (especially the Equa Hold) as they are designed for this mat. They provide grip when wet and even soaked. This is a rather large and heavy mat, which is great for me since I'm over 6' tall.

Better for studio practice than travel. If concerned about weight, you may want to opt for the pro-lite version. Personally, I only use the pro-lite when I have to.

Another big difference between the Pro and the Pro-Lite is the Pro doesn't absorb any moisture. Since I have a sweaty practice, it makes for easier cleaning. But I have to be sure to clean up the area around my mat after my practice.

I have the standard length and tend to stay at the front of my mat most of my practice. I will likely buy the Extra Long for my next mat.

        Manduka is for Yoga!!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great mat, long lasting, and good grip. It works better if you keep it clean, but I have had no issues with how it works. It is a heavy mat although with that you get extra padding for the kneeling poses which is great for those with sensitive knees.

Give it some time and you'll love it!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Black mat pro- standard

The first time I used this mat for my ashtanga yoga practice I thought my teacher was nuts for telling me to buy it. I slipped around like a baby deer on ice. After a few more times using it (and covering it with salt to sit overnight before rubbing it off with a damp cloth), the mat became less slippery and has only gotten better with time/repeated usage. Now, this mat is amazing and I cannot imagine practicing without it. It has enough grip so I don't slip but also is smooth enough to easily roll over my toes and practice smooth transitions. I actually broke my toe on another one of my mats because it has TOO much grip, and my toe got caught up when I rolled over it (it isn't a Manduka). Yes, this mat is heavier than most, but it is a tool that will help to significantly improve your practice if you are willing to slide around a bit the first few times you use it. Give it a chance and you won't regret it!

        Great material!

I've had several mats in my time. Someone recommended Manduka to me. I am so glad I bought this. No slip may! Gives great traction for any pose in hot yoga.
