Portable performance.

If you're looking for a high-performance, eco-friendly yoga mat that's easily portable but still supportive, you'll love the Manduka eKO Lite 4mm Yoga Mat. This natural rubber mat offers four millimeters of medium cushioning while weighing in at four pounds, making it easy to tote to class or on your travels. The top of the mat features a water-ripple texture that's naturally grippy and that stays that way even when you're dripping sweat all over it in hot yoga class. The sealed-cell surface does not absorb moisture or bacteria, so the mat stays fresher and resists premature wear, and a stretch-resistant middle layer ensures the mat will enjoy a long life.

Great mat, but strong smell

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

As others have mentioned this mat has a very strong rubber smell. It doesn't bother me as much. The mat is of great quality and I like how this grips better than my previous yoga mats although I think this is a little thinner as well. I still slide a bit when I sweat a lot, but I noticed that it wasn't as bad as my old mat.

Loving this mat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It is a really nice mat, grippy, comfortable and you do not slip. It has a funny smell at the beginning but it goes away eventually. I read some reviews on it being very resistant, so hoping on having this mat for a few years.

Just go with it!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Having a nice, functional yoga mat makes all the difference in your practice. I never have had a mat by this brand, but after reading more than a handful of positive reviews, I decided to just go with it! It is not super thick, but it still does the job as far as not feeling like you're directly on the hard floor. I have extra sweaty palms and feet and this non slip mat is perfect even when in the hottest of classes. 10/10 would recommend!

A perfect and durable mat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had Manduka eKO Lite 4mm for over 2 years now, it is heavy, smelly at first.
But I never slip on this mat even under 104 degree hot yoga workout. It does not wear much. I plan to use it for another 5-10 years if I can.

Terrible mat

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this mat specifically because the company boasts about how it is designed for hot yoga. 10 minutes into my first class with it I had a puddle of sweat on the mat that built up throughout the class. I slipped the entire class and could not focus on the practice. I have since tried it 3 more times hoping it was just a "break in" period but the same results each time. Sorry I wasted the money on it.

Loving this yoga mat!

Finally decided to invest in a higher quality mat after upping my practice and am very happy with my decision. The mat is a good weight and a great color (I ordered the Rapport). It is not as grippy as I was hoping it would be when it gets wet with sweat. I'm hoping this will improve with wear and time (I've only had it for about a month), however I usually have a full length towel laid over the top when I do expect to sweat. The mat came with a stinky rubber smell as expected and I air it out in my basement or in the shade outside when not in use. When I place a towel over the top during a class I don't even notice it though!

    high quality mat

Not only do I use this mat for some intense at home yoga and other dog has laid all over it, scratched it, and tried to eat it. It's holding up wonderfully so far. It's a high quality mat and worth the few extra bucks over some cheap yoga mat from TJMaxx. The difference is obvious and the top also helps in not slipping around when you sweat. Yes, it smelled like rubber when I received it.... I left it outside to air out for a day, it still smelled. After a few uses the smell went away. It wasn't a big deal, nobody in class complained.

      Worth the Splurge

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I used to think a yoga mat was just a yoga mat. It's not. Rubber is where it's at. Every mat I've ever owned has been slippery and fallen apart. So while this mat might be more expensive up front, it lasts SOOOO much longer.

This mat has been sticky from the get go, making it easier to hold poses and adjust for proper posture. BUT, if your into hot yoga, or just sweat alot, buy a yoga towel mat to go with it.

I think the biggest complaint with this mat is the strong rubber smell for the first month or so. It didn't bother me because it reminded me that I bought a quality mat that I trust to get the job right. THANK YOU MANDUKA!

Your Down Dog will Thank you

Awesome! I finally upgraded to a quality mat and it made such a difference. Grippy, and the extra cush was nice on the knees. No slipping around on this mat. I wish i would have invested in a quality mat years ago.

      Great Mat

      very grippy
      won't slide or bunch up
heavy, but not too heavy to carry around
      loove the color selections!

Smells like rubber for the first week, but it's bearable!
Might not be the best mat for hot yoga... while grippy, I noticed my palms still slid a little when they got sweaty.

      Awesome mat

Really love this mat. I've never owned a decent mat before this one, just cheap ones that were too slippery if I started to sweat. I did a lot of research on top-rated yoga mats, and decided I wanted a natural rubber one, and manduka provides an eco-friendly rubber for their mats. It's heavier than I expected, but that's fine- it feels like it will hold up for a long time. It's super grippy, even when you're dripping sweat. I also got it for a great sale price on here, I guess the color was being discontinued. And that's why I won't give it 5 stars- the color I ordered ended up being MUCH lighter than what I thought I saw online (I KNOW- different screens can display colors differently, but this has literally never ever happened to me before! I've always received what I was expecting, color-wise) and I should've just been patient and returned it right away instead of laying it out to air out the rubber smell. So now I'm stuck with a still-somewhat-pricey yoga mat in a color that I don't love, which really sucks. I have no idea what lighting they must have used for sample pictures, or if all the mats look so different unboxed at home. I will probably buy another Manduka mat when this one is done with, but I'll be sure to be positive I love the color first! Also, regarding the rubber smell, I sprayed it with apple cider vinegar mixed with water after airing it out for a couple days, but I'm going to purchase Manduka mat spray for the remaining odor.

      Great mat

I bought to replace a hand-me-down. Works great!

      Very happy with this mat

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I bought this mat to replace a years-old, cheaper one. The old one was softer, but I felt the hard floor through it, especially in poses where my knees were on the ground. This Manduka mat feels much firmer overall. I've had no problems feeling my limbs sink through to the ground, and I don't feel wobbly in balance poses. I'm still breaking it in, but it's getting more sticky over time (and actually, I appreciate a little slip in many of the vinyasa transitions). The rubber smell does take awhile to fade, although leaving it out to air and wiping it down with a water/vinegar solution help.

      Rubber is Better

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I finally made the move to a rubber mat and I'm never going back!

This mat is sticky the first practice! That being said, one side is stickier and easier to practice on (and thus needs less time to break in). I feel more confident in my poses and end up gibing deeper into poses because I trust my mat to support my practice.

A few precautions, unlike other mats, rubber is not porous at all, which means if you sweat a lot during your practice the mat can get slippery. Also, the rubber smell is rather overwhelming for at least the first month. And, being rubber, this mat is heavier than other mats I've had.

All-in-all, I'm sold on this mat and I'll be buying more!

      Nice mat

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Having a quality mat makes a difference. I have used others a few times and this mat is very nice. I learned that a yoga mat is like a bicycle seat, the best need not be too thick and soft is not necessarily better. This is firm to my senses, but works well and parts that rest on it do not hurt.

      Good yoga mat!

It's a cheery yellow and no slip. I like it!

        Favorite mat

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love the color (sensation) of this mat + the grip and support that I get while using it. It is definitely lighter than my PRO mat, but it is still slightly heavy, but I will still be traveling with it.

        Great mat

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This mat is really great! Literally my only problem is the smell. It's only when you are actually on the mat with your face up to it that you can really smell it, but after an hour session or so your skin carries the weird rubber smell for a while. More than just hand washing can get rid of. I even tried letting it air out flat for a week. No luck. It's not a huge issue for me because I usually shower right after, but it is something to consider!

        Manduka Eko Lite 4mm

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love this mat! Very sticky and comfortable cushioning. Lays out flat & doesn't keep the 'rolled up' shape. I love that it's made with natural rubber too - eco friendly! I've been using it for 4 months (3 - 4 classes/week) and it is holding up very well. Definitely will be purchasing another as a backup.
